SUNDAY SERVICE (26/7/2026)
PREACHER: ELD. AKANIYENE OWOREKPE.
TOPIC: GRACE TO PERSEVERE.
BIBLE LESSONS: ISAIAH 40:29-31,
2 CORINTHIANS 12:9-10, HEBREWS 4:15-16.
*Persevere means to continue striving to achieve something in spite of setbacks.
It also means to hold on, to insist, and to keep going.
*Grace is God’s unmerited favor toward us and a divine empowerment to accomplish what we cannot do on our own.
*Life is a journey filled with trials, temptations, and spiritual battles. But we must hold on to God because His grace is sufficient for us.
*God’s grace strengthens us where our strength fails, gives us hope, and enables us to remain faithful until the end.
FACTS TO NOTE ABOUT PERSEVERANCE
1. PERSEVERANCE COMES THROUGH GOD'S GRACE, NOT HUMAN STRENGTH.
Grace enables believers to keep striving even when exhausted.
(2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
2. TRIALS DEVELOP
PERSEVERANCE.
Trials are not meant to break us but to build us.
God uses opposition, disappointment, delays, and difficult situations to produce endurance in us.
(James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-5)
3. CHRIST IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF PERSEVERANCE.
(Hebrews 12:1-3)
He endured the cross, suffering, shame, and betrayal because He was focused on the joy ahead.
If Christ endured the cross for our salvation, we too can endure life’s challenges through His strength.
(Psalm 46:1)
4. GOD'S GRACE SUSTAINS US DAILY.
(John 1:16, Lamentations 3:22-23)
Grace is not only for our salvation but also for our ministry, family, work, daily living, and spiritual warfare.
5. THERE IS A REWARD FOR THOSE WHO PERSEVERE
Let us never judge our future by our present situation. God honors faithful perseverers.
HOW TO RECEIVE GRACE TO PERSEVERE
1. Stay rooted in God’s word.
2. Pray continually.
3. Trust the Holy Spirit for strength.
4. Remain in Christian fellowship.
(Hebrews 10:24-25).
5. Keep your eyes fixed on Christ.
CONCLUSION
In all we are going through, let us be reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
He will strengthen us. He will keep us from falling and His grace will sustain us to persevere to the very end.
