Today, we celebrate with the family of Mr & Mrs Iniobong Peter as they bring their daughter, Miss Favour Iniobong Peter for dedication in church.

We pray that favour should surround Favour Iniobong Peter as a shield, and that she grow in wisdom and grace, bearing light and giving godly direction to every other child that would come after her in Jesus name, Amen.

Colossians 3:1-4
[1]Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
[2]Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
[3]For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
[4]And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

2 Corinthians 5:15
[15]He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

Galatians 2:20
[20]My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

John 5:28-29
[28]Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son,
[29]and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.

Lessons from the trial of Jesus
4. On the Cross We See Humility and Love

The all-powerful Son of God submitted Himself willingly. This is the wonder of the gospel.
The miracle worker allowed Himself to be beaten, the King allowed Himself to be mocked, the Son of God allowed sinful men to nail Him. Not because He was weak, but because love made Him willing.

His humility was intentional. His suffering was redemptive. His silence was strength.

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter...” — Isaiah 53:7

“Who, being in the form of God... humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” — Philippians 2:6–8

“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
— Luke 23:34

3. The Cross Reveals the Evil Alliance of the World Against the Righteous

“And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.”
— Luke 23:12

The hatred of righteousness can unite rivals.

Herod and Pilate had different interests, different political spheres, and overlapping authority.
Yet they found common ground in the trial of Jesus.
This teaches that systems of power can unite against truth, holiness, and righteous voices.

Lessons from the trial of Jesus.
2. The Way to the Cross Exposes the Ungratefulness of the World

The same people who had seen His miracles now mocked and humiliated Him.
The cross shows how quickly human praise can turn into rejection. It also shows how humanity can reject divine mercy even when the evidences are right before them.

“...who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed...” — Acts 10:38

The One who healed the blind, cleansed lepers, fed multitudes, raised Lazarus, and comforted the broken, was repaid with spitting, mockery, and rejection.

“Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands.” — Matthew 26:67

“And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.” — Matthew 27:30

Lessons from the trial of Jesus
1. The Cross Shows the Injustice and Irrationality of the World

The world chose a thief, murderer, and lawbreaker over the righteous Son of God.

“But they all cried out together, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)” — Luke 23:18–19

“Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.” — Matthew 27:22

This reveals the moral confusion of fallen humanity. They choose to celebrate evil, condemn innocence and be manipulated by envy and emotion.

The Passover lamb was only a shadow.
Jesus became the perfect and final Lamb.

He was spotless, sinless, and offered once for all mankind.

“For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” — 1 Corinthians 5:7

Unlike animal sacrifices that had to be repeated, Jesus offered Himself once and forever.
His blood brings forgiveness, mercy, redemption, and access to God.

Through His blood, Jesus established a new covenant of grace. No longer written on stone, but on the hearts of believers.

Now, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” — John 1:29
