The fact that Jesus died for you before you were born does not mean He died for your sins - past, present, and future.

That is the wrong way of thinking. You are thinking like a sinner.

That's not what Jesus did.

You see, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 - if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.

There is an old life and a new life
There is an old man and a new man.

When you meet Jesus - He takes away the old life at the Cross. He takes away the old life with its past and future. Not only is the past of who you were useless and corrupt. The future of who you were before you received Christ is also useless and corrupt. Jesus takes it all when you surrender to Him as Lord and Saviour.

He then replaces that old man, that old life, that old way of living, with His life, with a new and living way. This new life has a past and a future. His past becomes your past and His future becomes your future. He becomes the Author and Finisher of your faith.

So Christianity is not about a forgiven past and a forgiven future. It is about a forgiven old life and an empowered new life. It is about putting off the old man and putting on the new. When a Christian sins, he is not living in the future God has given him, he is living in the future Christ has taken away from him. He is not walking in the Spirit. He is walking in the flesh.

When a Christian sins, it is an aberration, an anomaly, an abomination, a double uncleanness, anathema. It is akin to a billionaire begging for 50 naira. Something is really and truly wrong. He doesn't just sit and say - it is covered.

Noooooooooo.

He runs to His father. He runs back to the light and says what the blood is saying. It's a revelation that was given to Apostle John. This is the power of 1 John 1:9 that so many do not understand. There are 3 that bear witness on earth. The blood is already speaking. You also have to speak. You overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony. That's why whatsoever is born of God overcomes this world.

When we confess our sins, we walk in the light as He is in the light and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

Christianity is not about going from sin to sin which are all covered. It is not.

Christianity is not about sinless perfection or moral rectitude by personal effort

The Christian faith is about becoming the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus positionally and experientally.

I have a lawyer. I am single. I open an account for my daughter who is not yet born. I put 100 billion naira in it for her. I tell my lawyer not to release the money to her in any form until she is 21 years.

5 years later, my daughter is born. She grows up and graduates from university at the age of 19. One year later she is owing people money. Some 100,000. Some 400,000. Some 300,000.

Everything together - all her debt is less than 10 million. She spends her time dodging these people - her creditors. It was a business deal gone bad. She borrowed money for the deal.

I have taught her to be independent so she does not call me or her mother. She tries to pay off her debts herself but it is not working. She is in trouble.

She turns 21 and the lawyer contacts her about her financial status. Relieved, she tells him what's going on. He gets all the financial details of her creditors and pays all her debts.

The 100 billion is not in her control. It is in the lawyer's control. After paying all these debts, he sends my daughter 10 million naira which is her new monthly allowance for the first year

Now, if you have followed this story so far, and you know me, you know that this is not about my family. My daughter will owe no one. Thank you. Mhmmm. This is just an illustration

The father is God
The lawyer is Christ.
The daughter is the Church
The money is the Blood

1. Did the lawyer pay the lady's PAST debts? Yes.

2. Did the lawyer pay for her FUTURE debts? No.

3. Is there money from the father with the lawyer in case she gets into debts again? Yes.

4. Was the money there before she was born? Yes!

5. Does tha mean the money is for covering future debts?

No. The money is there not for my daughter to be a future debtor but for her to be rich and debt-free.

6. If she gets into debts in the future what does she do? She will confess her indiscretions to her father's lawyer and obtain money

Do you understand?

1. Did Jesus die for our PAST sins? Yes

2. Did He pay for our future sins? NO

3. Do we have forgiveness with God in Christ Jesus? Yes.

4. Was this given to us before we were born? Yes.

5. Does this mean it was for future sins?

Nooooo. Jesus did not die to make us future sinners who are corvered but to make us rich in righteousness.

6. What happens when a believer sins? He confesses his sins to the Advocate with the Father and obtains mercy.

I've always wondered why the most quality believers we have today were those raised in the 70s and 80s and 90s.

I've always asked myself why there are so much gaps in the present generation especially ( Gen z and millennials ).

After careful observation and research I finally have some answers..

- There was heavy emphasis on Holliness and character development.

- There was less emphasis on materialism .

- There was more emphasis on prayer and bible study both personally and cooperatelly.

- There was huge emphasis on real soul winning and evangelism.

- The local church had unflinching loyalty from believers .

- Pastors and Shepherds were held in high regards with honour, dignity and respect.

- A culture of accountability was entrenched in the the church life.
Accountability both to their pastors and to one another.

- Disciplinary measures were effective methods of bringing erring saints to repentance ..

- Finally, there was emphasis on decency and orderliness..

The average millennial or Gen z believers doesn't understand most of these things..

Quality has greatly depleted .

Authentic Christianity must be restored..
