Today's message from God's Great People Daily devotional
Topic: Stop building a monument of your failure.
The scriptural reading is from luke 5:1-7......
Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
Stop building a monument of your failure, get up and go again for success.
According to the scripture above,
It was obvious that Peter and his friends failed, they were frustrated, discouraged and packing up to go home. The women waiting to buy fish to sell had given up, they too had given up for that day that there would be no money and no food, so the total failure was clear to all.
But Jesus showed up and after giving Him opportunity to relate with them He told Peter cast your net again.
Peter wanted to make a big deal out of the frustration, "'we have toiled all through the night and caught nothing"". That's failure mentality, nobody is interested, all they want is success.
Jesus said go again now. And Peter obeyed the instructions and caught much more ever that he would have imagined.
Lessons
1. Failure is not an end, it's an event, it can happen to anyone.
2. Failing does not make you a failure so stop telling people how you failed.
3. Be ready to obey instructions for the next success.
4. While others were hearing the gospel of Jesus, Peter too was listening so it was easier to obey him.
Atmosphere of his word is the atmosphere of hope.
5. God's word fires up hope for new vision. At your word as , Peter said.
6. Don't be in a hurry to close your case.
7. After any kind of failure don't reject people who need your help so you don't lose opportunities to rise again.
Some of us get so discouraged that we repel everyone around us because of failure. Peter still borrowed his office (boat) to Jesus for fellowship. Imagine him accepting to borrow his tool to others despite his failure.
Don't allow your failing to deprive you of your mega success. Open up for people.
8. Miracles still happen.
