SERMON: Apostle O. U. Okon
CENTRAL THEME: Restoration of the Believers Hope Through the Risen Christ

SUB-THEME: Contending for the Hope in Christ as a Believer.
TEXTS: 1st Peter 3:15; Acts 21

MESSAGE
The word contend or contending can be simplified to words like struggle, fight,strive and compete.
We are in a world full of heresies and vain hope that has misaligned believers from the hope that is in Christ. But believers should not let their hope wiither by circumstances and the noise of the mundane inheritance of men, however, we should stand firm to battle against the world and gain back the hope that comes from the one true God. Trials and temptations will rage storms in different areas of your life. Your business could be on the line, your family will be placed before you, friends will mock you, the world will laugh at you, you will not ft into circles, but as believers that have our hope on God, we are to stand firm as Job stood firm, accepting to perish than let go of his hope. He protected his hope, fought for it, and strived.
The bible says that He that striveth for mastery is temperate in all things. And as believers who strives and protect the hope that God has given to us, we must not quiver at the noises of the mundane world, but stand firm and contend for our hope in Christ.
The sacred hymn of saints, hymn number 202, admonishes us to stand firm in the pursuit of heaven, taking up our cross as Christ commanded and follow him. The cross makes us aware of these trials, and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead has given us the hope of victory. So as Christ contended for the hope of glory, we too must contend for the hope of His promises.
If you know that you do not have any inheritance on earth but in heaven, you will look up to heaven which is the hill of your help to hope on God.
Brethren! Stand firm in contending, do not be shaken, guard the promises of God over your life in hoping fully on him. The bible says the vision awaits it time, it may tarry but it will surely come to pass. So brethren, no matter how long and hard it is, remember the voice of the Lord and wait on him. Contend against any circumstance that threatens your hope and ALAS! Stand still, stand firm, for our inheritance in heaven is secured as we continue to fight.

Central Theme: Restoration of the Believers Hope Through the Risen Christ

Sub-Theme : Jesus Christ Our Living Hope .
Text : 1st Peter 1:3-9

Message
When we talk of living, it means someone who has life or he/she is lively and in existence. It is lasting and enduring.
Hope means expectation, a wish, the desire for the future.
In 1 Corinthians 13: 12-13 the Bible says we see partly, and we know what we say that we look at things like someone is looking in the mirror.
Three things to note in this portion is Faith, Hope and Charity, but the greatest is Charity.
Do you love Jesus? Are you doing things to please Him?
Those that love Jesus are those whom the promise of God will come to them, their hope and faith will come to Christ.
Since you attended this convention, that means you love God. Jesus Christ is our hope. If you love Him and have hope in Him, you will never be disappointed.

Jesus Christ brought eternal hope and hope for the whole world. The hope of delivering us from illness and all the earthly troubles.
In this convention, if you have hope in God and it seems that the hope is lost, the God that raised Jesus Christ from death will restore your hope in Jesus name, Amen. Hoping in God will not put you to shame. Death could not hold Jesus Christ so he can give us a living hope.

Before Jesus Christ ascend to heaven, He made some promises.
The first promise was the gift of the Holy spirit(The comforter) to the church.

The second promise which is still living till today is that "He is with us always till the end of the world" Matthew 28:20.

The third promise is that He is coming back for you. John 14:1-3.
Since other promises were fulfilled, the church should be expecting Jesus Christ because He is coming back for us. Believers are being promised an inheritance which is eternal life through faith that does not change.

Characteristics of living hope
1. It is incorruptible: It does not change, decay, it can't be destroyed, it stands forever.
2. It does not disappoint: A mere man can disappoint you when you least expect and have had high hopes but God will not disappoint you.

To enjoy this living hope there are certain things you need to do:
1. You have to be be born again child of God . 1st Peter 1:3
2. You have to go through faith unto salvation. 1st Peter 1:5
3. You have to be heavily tested and tried and you have to stand in trial no matter the circumstances. 1 Peter 1:6
4. Be ready to be tried by fire
5. Believing and hoping without seeing
6. You must have long-suffering Job 14:14
7. Rejoice even in difficult times .

Conclusion
Have it in mind that all the promises made to us by Jesus Christ will surely come to past and we should not lose hope in God, we should be steadfast.
