The Lord’s Day 🤍
In our Morning School of Theology, we treated Question 60: Why is Christ a King?
Ans: Because He rules over us and defends us.
A king rules and governs his people, executes judgment, administers justice, and protects his people. A godly king leads his people in righteousness and establishes laws according to God’s laws.
Christ is King over His Kingdom. He has authority over His people and continually reigns over His Church. His Kingdom is made up of His saints, and He remains King forever, protecting and preserving His Church against her enemies.
What should our response be?
Obedience. As subjects of Christ our King, we are called to obey His Word and live a holy life.

Sermon: What Savourest Thou? Matt 16:21–23
In the sermon led by Bro. Ebuka, we considered the conversation between our Lord Jesus and Peter concerning Christ’s approaching death.
Jesus explained that He must go to Jerusalem not to be crowned king but to suffer many things, and be killed. The Jews struggled to understand a Messiah who would suffer and be scorned by men. In Mark 8:33, we see that the disciples shared Peter’s understanding that the Messiah should not suffer.

Christ’s rebuke of Peter reveals the severity of his ignorance. Peter, in that moment, acted as an adversary, opposing God’s will and tempting Christ toward self-preservation rather than the suffering required for the redemption of His people.
Being acquainted with the will of God helps us recognise the devises of the enemy. Christ knew the Father’s will and therefore would not be persuaded to turn from the path set before Him.

In this passage, the things of God refer to Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection, the very things the disciples struggled to accept. We also have the things of Men which are power, positions, wealth, friendship with the world, ease and comfort...
We must therefore be careful about what we set our minds on and what we savour. A mind set on the things of the flesh is hostile to God. Let us love the Lord and continually seek His will.

May the Lord help us to set our hearts on His will continually.

The Lord’s Day 🤍

In our Morning School of Theology, we continued our study from last week, led by Bro. Ebuka, as we considered the question: Why do we need a High Priest?

If we were perfect and we do not fall short, we would have no need for a High Priest. But we continually fall short, therefore we need Christ, our High Priest, who continually intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father and keeps us to the end.
Just as the high priest in the Old Testament carried the names of the children of Israel before God, Christ, our High Priest, carries His people in his Heart into the holy of holies. (John 17:9)

Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient. As the propitiation for our sins, He offered Himself once and for all time and no other sacrifice is required.
The only sacrifice required of us is to present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, not only on Sundays, but every day. (Romans 12:1).

Sermon: Abide in Your Calling, 1 Corinthians 7:17–24
Pastor Louis reminded us to glorify God wherever He has called us, whether married or single, servant or master. Our circumstances and outward status do not determine our spiritual worth. What matters is our faith, obedience, worship, and trust in God.

We are called to remain faithful in whatever state we find ourselves, treating others rightly and remembering that, regardless of our earthly position, we are servants of Christ.

We must never become spiritually enslaved to people or compromise God’s truth to please men. Instead, we are to abide in Christ, keep His commandments, and seek to glorify Him in every circumstance.

May God give us grace to abide in Christ and faithfully walk in the calling wherein He has called us.
