THE PRIESTS OF UROMI DIOCESE GATHER FOR ANNUAL RETREAT
With the desire for a renewed spirit for authentic Pastoral Ministry, the priests of Uromi Diocese gathered at St. Joseph Retreat Center, Ugboha, for their Annual All Priests Retreat. The 6 days retreat which took place from 16th August to 21st of August, 2025 was a sacred time for spiritual renewal, fraternal communion, and pastoral reflection. The sacred moment offered our priests a space of silence, discernment, and deeper intimacy with Christ.
The retreat facilitator, Most Rev. (Dr.) Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, the Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, took the priests on a voyage of reflections to help deepen their commitment to the priestly identity and vocation. And also helping the priests to create a space for prayerful discernment, and to strengthen fraternity and unity among priests in the Diocese.
The retreat also provided more pastoral insights and encouragement for effective ministry in the coming year.
Highlights of the retreat program include: Daily Eucharistic Celebration and Adoration, Lectures and reflections on the Priesthood and Priestly ministry, Meditations, Communal and Personal Prayer, Sacrament of Reconciliation.
More importantly the retreat offered priests an opportunity to step away from the demands of pastoral ministry, listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and to strengthen their resolve to serve the faithful with renewed zeal and pastoral effectiveness.
The medication team of the diocese was available to enable the priests access medical care during the period of the retreat.
At the conclusion of the retreat, a tree-planting exercise was also held, anchored by the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Francis Omonlumen. The exercise formed part of the priests’ participation in the activities marking the Jubilee Year, symbolising their commitment to the care of creation and the renewal of hope for future generations.
We thank God and congratulate the priests of Uromi Diocese for a successful retreat and a renewed strength. May God keep their faith ever alive. Amen.
