The fact that some people believe getting married to a Man of God automatically makes them the 'Spiritual Mother' to all his 'sons and daughters' is a nauseating concept. Spiritual stature and authority are not sexually transmitted. Someone might argue, 'but the Bible says two shall become one,' but they always omit a key word, 'flesh.' The Bible says two shall become one flesh! A man and his spouse are one in flesh, not in spirit. Guess what, the Bible says the same thing about a man who sleeps with a harlot! So, if being married to a Man of God automatically transfers his spiritual authority to you because you become 'one flesh,' it also means that if a man of God fornicates, whoever he slept with is equally the spiritual mother to all his sons and daughters. This madness needs to stop. Spiritual sonship and fatherhood are very weighty matters, too weighty to be determined by matrimony. Just as salvation cannot be inherited or transferred to a spouse, spiritual authority cannot be transferred either. I will respect and honor your wife because you choose her to be your spouse, but to be called a Father or a Mother, you must earn it!
