Dear Fr Jude, it is a joyful thing that God has added another year to your life today. It is indeed the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

You are indeed an Ambassador of Human Life, a commited Pro-lifer and defender of core family values. Continue the good works you are doing for your generation.

*SECURITY TIPS FOR PRIESTS IN THE PRESBYTERY*

The rate of security challenges in our country Nigeria is escalating on daily basis. Churches and religious men (especially priests) are now becoming targets. While we believe that this is an onslaught with religious and ethnic undertone, let's not also neglect the call of reason for self precaution. Some of the personal security measures that can be taken for our good include:

1. It is always advisable to get a trained security man in the rectory, especially one who speaks and understands your language and shares the same view with you about life. If not, well trained dogs are not a bad idea.

2. Do not move about late at night. At least by 6:30, a priest should be back in the rectory.

3. Do not travel long distances alone. Get a company. Be mindful of the condition of your car before you move to avoid being stranded on the road.

4. It is not good that man should be alone. A good brotherliness should exist between priests in the rectory. Always have someone around the house even if it's a little boy to keep the rectory lively and warm. The rectory should not be like a cemetery.

5. Try to put trackers in ur car, for security reasons.

6.There are goggle map and GPS apps that can connect you with your loved ones whom you wish should know your way about. Take advantage of modern facilities including CCTv cameras to watch over your surroundings. At least two persons should be aware of your whereabout. Even when there's a change in your movement plan, inform somebody.

7. Be friendly with people especially ur fellow priests. Wear a friendly and approachable outlook so that people will feel free around you. Relate well with your neighbors around the rectory and host community of your parish, so that they can be feeding you with information on security. Have at least one security agent or expert as a friend. They can give security guide, alert and advise when the need arises.

8. Reduce the rate of Church late night programs, vigils and crusades. Do not keep yourself and the people of God so long in the Church unnecessarily.

9. If you have the mind and you are trained, arm yourself. Buy and keep licensed and approved security equipment and tools. It's funny that you can't find a simple Cutlass or machet in some Father's houses. A priest is a man. Priesthood does not emasculate. Men are born security agents.

10. Over and above all, be more prayerful. The times are bad. One can meet his death at any time. Be ready and prepared for it.

The Lord of Hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our stronghold (Ps 46:7)

Rev. Fr. Oluoma Speaks on Owo, Ondo Massacre.

If you die for or because of your faith in Christ Jesus, it's martyrdom, "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church". If you die for your country, it's patriotism.

However, I don't know what to call those who die for just being Nigerians, individuals ruthlessly hacked to death and roasted in fire by rampaging blood thirsty religious fanatics in a country that says it is secular with rule of law.

What do I call those massacred in St Francis Catholic Church by terrorists that seem to be enabled by some criminal elements in the country? If they were told to renounce their faith in Christ Jesus and they refused and got killed, I could call them martyrs without hesitation. They were killed because they were unfortunate to be in Nigeria where killing is now as easy as ABC everywhere. Let's leave nomenclature for now.

A MESSAGE FOR THE KNIGHTS OF THE CHURCH.
knighthood was established to protect the church, if I'm not mistaken, from external aggression. It's time to up the game. I plead, appeal and suggest that knights in the church should organise and get licensed guns. Drop the ceremonial swords for now, get government licensed guns, get some members trained and carry the guns concealed for eventualities like Owo massacre. Self defence is not against Christian and Catholic doctrine.

Parishes that are too poor to have government licensed automatic guns should be assisted by the rich ones. If we have to dedicate the bazaar of one year to achieve this let it be. Let's help government to ward off killers from worship centers.

It is practically impossible for government to deploy security operatives to all churches, so this is a necessary complementary efforts. Knights of the church, it's time. Let's not ever think that this incident will not happen again. This is not the first, who says it will be the last? It is safe to say other churches and our muslim brethren can do same. Government needs help to secure Nigerians.

A MESSAGE TO OUR CHRISTIAN POLITICIANS.
You all know that Nigeria needs to be restructured, our security architecture needs to be urgently redesigned. for reasons beyond comprehension, I don't know why you guys don't make it a priority. You are more intent in getting your party slots for one elective position or the other, you are more concerned with getting your party to win one election or the other, you have refused to tackle the fundamental issues with the country.

please, eschew personal and partisan interest and make the interest of Nigeria your priority. Pursue the restructuring of Nigeria from the constitutional point of view to governance levels vigorously. Stop playing the ostrich.

may the souls of the victims of St Francis Catholic Church Owo massacre rest in peace. 😭😭😭
