🖊️ *COMMENTARY*
Indeed, the place of service cannot be over-emphasized if we must attain success and great possibilities in life. Service is the medium through which we give expression to the gifts and potentials that we carry. It is the platform that makes it possible for other people to access our uniqueness and resourcefulness, and to equally put price tags on them. When service is qualitative and expressed properly, it enthrones us in our service fields and in life generally.
The service of the nameless servant in our text today was what made him so valued that his master (a centurion) had to suspend every other assignment to personally scout for a solution for his deteriorating health. Equally, the service of the centurion to that Jewish community was what motivated their elders to speak to Jesus on behalf of a gentile centurion.
Endeavour to endear yourself to the people around you, whether at home, church or place of work. At each opportunity to serve, you aim at giving people more than what they paid for or could pay you. Serve in such a way that people who benefit from your service feel indebted to you, and would always desire to come around you again and again; all because they know that you deliver above the average requirement, and that you do so conscientiously. A quality servant carries the glories and destinies of so many people on his shoulders. Of course, the recipients do not toy with such a servant; he is highly valued.
May you be that kind of servant in your place of service!
