MEDITATE ON HIS LOVE
“O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.”
Psalms 48:9 (NLT)

There are many things that vie for our attention. Multiple situations face us at any given moment. Our minds move from issue to issue at blinding speeds. Feeling, observing, assessing and predicting is often done in seconds as we multitask our way through the day. This is why it is so important to renew our mind every day. We need to make a conscious effort to slow down and meditate on God’s unfailing love. Paul knew this. He writes, “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” But how, how did he renew his mind? He continues, “We don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.” This “gaze” or focus is what the Psalmist refers to as meditating. It is putting deliberate focused attention on a particular issue. It is the personal consideration of what the thoughts mean and their personal application that make meditating so enriching. Today, don’t just read God’s word; stop and meditate on it and let it effect you in deep and meaningful ways.

PRAYER
Father, I am so thankful for Your love. You are so real, so relevant to my life. Help me to stop all the madness and slow down long enough to mediate on who You are. Today, as I spend time with You, renew my mind I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

MIND YOUR MIND AND HEART

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:15-16 (NIV)

William Backus, in his book “Learning To Tell Myself The Truth” writes, “Sadly, misbeliefs, whether verbal or visual, are the direct cause of emotional turmoil, maladaptive behavior, and most self-destructive behavior, such as overeating, smoking, lying, substance abuse, or adultery, to name a few.” It is true, the consequences of misbeliefs, misinterpretations of events and skewed predictions about outcomes all to often lead to us to despair and the dysregulation of our emotions. Therefore it is crucial that we protect our heart and our mind. Paul shares how can do this. First he says that we are to let the peace that comes from knowing Christ rule in our hearts. The heart is where our emotions, imagination, visualizations, dreams and aspirations come from. We need to let Christ rule in each of these areas. He should fill our imaginations, dreams and visions with His peace. Satan uses our imagination. Have you ever noticed that you fear in technicolor, surround sound and 3-D? It is the same with anger, hopelessness and any other of our painful emotions. Our imagination goes wild. Instead, we need to let Christ’s peace fill our hearts. We need Him to be the Lord of our imagination. Second, Paul writes, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” It is the word of God that challenges and helps correct any negative core belief. As His word dwells in our minds we will begin to see it spill over into our belief system. This happens through admonishing one another with all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Today give God both your heart and your mind. Let Him

I AM TRUSTING GOD

“But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, ‘You are my God!’ My future is in your hands.” Psalms 31:14-15 (NLT)

There comes a time when we just have to trust God. Not with a blind faith, but a faith built on a solid foundation; a faith with roots going down deep into our being. A place where our primal fears and apprehension lie colliding with our seemingly logic and assumptions. When everything in us says, “Run, hide, quit, fight or give in,” God shows up and we have to choose. David had to make a choice and he chose God. He may have been afraid but he said, “But I am trusting.” He may have had advice that was contrary but he said, “But I am trusting.” His back was against the wall, all human hope exhausted yet he said, “But I am trusting!” Today, let go. Hear God’s voice, see His amazing love and power for you and say with David, “But I am trusting you, O LORD – You are my God! My future is in your hands.”

PRAYER
Father, help me to trust in You. I know I should and I am so weak in my faith. Holy Spirit, comfort me, encourage my heart, blow gently on any small amber of faith You find and fan it into a flame. Ignite my heart so I can trust You more. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

YOUR SOURCE OF JOY FOR HELP
Psalms 43:4 (NLT)
“There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy.”

Joy is the great equalizer. It is what our soul strives for, that spiritual homeostasis that keeps life in balance. But joy isn’t something we can conjure up by ourself. Deep, rich joy comes from a loving relationship with God. When we find ourself out of sorts, when our emotions seem to be at the edge, it is our relationship with God and the deep affirmations that He gives to us, that bring us back. The Psalmist knew where his joy came from. That is why he wrote that he went to the altar of God and through praise, worship and prayers, he found the source of all his joy. Jesus knew this too. When people came to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” He replied, “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Yes, Jesus said that because it was the right moral choice; but I believe He also knew that it was the best solution to all that bothers us as human beings. He knew that our heart, mind and soul is the true altar of God. Indeed, knowing God in deep and intimate ways is our true source of joy.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, how I long to know You in deep and personal ways. Help me worship You at the altar of my heart, mind and soul, so I can know You as the true source of all my joy.
AMEN

GOD LOVES YOU
Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

It is one thing to think of how we should devote our lives to God. It is another to think of how God devotes His life to us! Zephaniah was telling a broken and disheartened people not to despair. Not to worry for God cares for you. He told them that God was in their midst and that He was mighty to save them. More than that, Zephaniah painted a word picture that should have filled them with joy. He told them that God Himself rejoiced over each and every one of them. That God personally would quiet their hearts with His love and that when it is all said and done, if they would listen, that they could hear Almighty God singing and praising over each of them. What a picture. What a reality. Today, know that God loves you, He rejoices over you with gladness and He is singing praises all about the love He has for you.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, how my heart rejoices in knowing that You care so much for me. How can I even begin to fathom it? Help me see it, help me know it. Today, dear Lord, open my eyes that I can truly see the love You have for me. Thank You, Lord!

Amen

HELP ME
MARK 9:14-29

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
— Mark 9:24

The disciples were not able to drive out a demon that was harming a young boy. That made them feel useless. They ended up dealing with their frustration by arguing with critics in the crowd.

What went wrong? Did they need to think more positively? Sometimes we might hear someone say, “Just have more faith,” or, “Just visualize it into reality”—meaning that anything is possible if we truly believe it can happen. But that is just self-powered optimism and has nothing to do with godly faith.

In contrast to the disciples’ ineffectiveness and arguing, we hear the father of the boy pleading with Jesus, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” And from that prayer new life arises.

Faith is not first of all a matter of self-generated conviction, but a blessed mixture of a divine gift that is received and nurtured—as in this father’s prayer.

Jesus is not put off by the man’s humble and honest plea. And he is not put off by ours: “I believe—but honestly, God, I’m not strong, and I’m not always certain. Please help me.”

Faith and discipleship can be challenging. And we are totally dependent on the Lord to give us faith. Because he loves us, Jesus is delighted to have us ask him for help as we struggle in learning to live by faith.

Dear Father, I do believe; help me overcome my unbeliefs. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

HELP FROM ABOVE
TEXT: Mark 10:41-52
“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” - Mark 10:51

As we look into this story again today, let’s focus on the question Jesus asks Bartimaeus, the man who is blind: “What do you want me to do for you?”

Since Bartimaeus has been begging by the roadside, we would expect him to ask for a handout—some bread or money, perhaps. But in response to Jesus’ question, the man is bold enough to ask for much more. He asks to be able to see—and that means he is asking to have his life completely changed.

How would you respond to Jesus’ question “What do you want me to do for you?”

We all could use a little help, or a little healing, or some additional resources to get us through another day, right? And surely we would be thankful for whatever help Jesus would give.

But let’s not forget who is asking. Just as Bartimaeus could see that Jesus was the Son of David, the promised deliverer who could make all things right, we need to see that Jesus is the Lord and Savior who offers us full, new life forever.

Jesus invites us to be honest about our greatest need: the mercy of God for sinners. So we need to ask him for forgiveness and new life, that we may serve with him forever.

Jesus is our very present help in times of need (Psalms 46:1)
The MESSAGE VERSION says
God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him.
He is ever ready to help, never hesitate today to call on him because he will definitely show up

PRAYER:
Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! In the richness of your grace and in the greatness of your love, grant me forgiveness and new life so that I may follow you. Amen.

KINGDOM INVESTMENT IS A GREAT PURPOSE IN CHRIST

These women were helping to support [Jesus and the disciples] out of their own means.

— Luke 8:3

Today we are reminded of a seldom-noted aspect of Jesus’ ministry: several women helped to support Jesus and the twelve disciples out of their own means. In other words, with their own money they helped to take care of food, clothing, shelter, and other incidental expenses.

Jesus had been a builder, and some of the twelve disciples had been fishermen. But they left their employment when they began their traveling ministry. Jesus once said, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20). He didn’t own furniture or a cozy little bungalow. He and the twelve disciples depended on the generosity of people like Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna.

This was not an entirely new pattern of ministry. Many years earlier, a widow in Zarephath provided the prophet Elijah with an upper room in her house and food to eat each day (1 Kings 17)—and the Lord supplied all her needs. Similarly, a well-to-do woman in Shunem and her husband made a room for Elisha on the roof of their home, and they put a bed, table, and chair in it so he had a place to stay when he was in the area (2 Kings 4).

All the good things we have are gifts from God (James 1:17). What can you share to help in the service of God’s kingdom?

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, we want to follow you. Guide us to know what our calling is, and how to serve you in it. In your name we pray. Amen

Make Preparations in order of your Purpose
..Prepare the way of the Lord...
(Isaiah 40:3, NKJV)

Everyone goes through seasons of waiting. A lot of times, people just sit back and wait for God to do everything. But you have to remember to do your part and make preparations. You have to talk like it’s going to happen and act like it’s going to happen. Some people might say, “Well, what if I do and it doesn’t happen?” Really, we should think, “What if I do and it does happen?” Even if things don’t turn out the way you had hoped, you are better off living your life feeling positive and hopeful than going around down and discouraged.

I love what David said in the Bible, “God, my times are in Your hands.” He was saying, “God, I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I know You know what’s best for me.” So I’m going to go out today expecting good things. Even if it doesn’t happen, I’m not going to go to bed disappointed. I’m going to go to bed knowing that I’m one day closer to seeing my dreams and desires come to pass!

Father, I dedicate this day to You. Show me how to prepare for the blessings that are coming in my future. Help me guard my words and thoughts as I put my trust in You in Jesus name. Amen.

THE WAYS OF CONTENTMENT IN PURPOSE

Godliness with contentment is great gain.
— 1 Timothy 6:6

Materialism sets all kinds of traps and temptations that can lead us astray from the path of faith and purpose

The tenth commandment— Do not covet (Exodus 20:17)— points the way to contentment. If we always have a roving eye, hankering for our neighbor’s house, car, or spouse, there will be no end to feeling unsettled. But with the Holy Spirit living in our hearts, filling the void that would otherwise drive us to distraction, we have peace and contentment within.

PRAYER
Lord, we do not want to follow our own ways; we want to follow Jesus in contentment. Lead us in this journey of purpose, we pray. Amen.

THE PURPOSEFUL GOD

Not only has God saved us and freed us, He has promised to do something significant through us. God has not just saved us from something, but He has saved us for something.

When we submit ourselves to God, He frees us from the grip of sin and wrong thinking and reveals His purpose for us. Every Christian shares the same general purpose: to love God and honor Him. But how each of us fulfills that purpose will look different. There is something specific God planned for each of us to do from the beginning of time.

Jesus is the best example of this. Jesus lived to bring glory to God (John 6:37-39). But God’s plan all along was to allow Jesus to die for our sins so we could be made right with Him.

Paying the penalty for our sin was something only Jesus could do. Sin requires a perfect sacrifice. So to free us from sin once and for all would require the ultimate, perfect sacrifice (Romans 6:23). Being fully human and fully God, Jesus was the only perfect person to ever walk the Earth and the only person who could have fulfilled God’s plan to restore our relationship with Him.

Just as Jesus was the only one who could fulfill His calling, we also have a specific role in God’s plan. We are "God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).

We’ll never fulfill our purpose if we’re constantly comparing ourselves to our neighbors. Like runners in a race, we will lose focus and veer off course if we’re worried about what’s happening in the next lane.

We don’t have to worry about what anyone else is doing or strive to do something significant with our lives. God is the Master, and we are His masterpiece. He’s already created and equipped us for every work He prepared in advance for us to do.

Prayer:
Oh God, Thank you for redeeming me for a purpose. Show me the works you’ve prepared in advance for me, and the race you’ve called me to run. Help me see the ways you masterfully

DON'T BE WEARY ON YOUR WAY TO YOUR PURPOSE

Isa.40.31 But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (NLT)

Do you sometimes feel like there is so much on your plate that you are constantly running to get it all done? There are seasons when we need to go the extra mile and give it our all, and there are seasons to rest and rejuvenate. Today’s scripture tells us that during those times when it’s necessary, we can run and not grow weary!

On your way to your purpose waiting time is very important, no matter what you are facing, surely God will renew your strength and engerize you to continue to walk on your purpose.

Are you facing something that seems to be taking all of your energy? Wait on the Lord! Expect, look for and hope in Him. The Bible promises that when you live with expectancy, when you stay hopeful, when you make preparations for the goodness of God, you’ll rise up higher. Your strength will be renewed, and you’ll be empowered to overcome life’s obstacles!

Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me Your strength and power. I receive it right now by putting my trust and hope in You. I know that with You, all things are possible in Jesus name. Amen.
