FRIDAY 24TH JULY, 2026.

SUB-THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.

TOPIC: BLOODSHED.

TEXTS: 2 SAMUEL 11:14-17; 12:7-9.

2 SAMUEL 11:14-17.

14. In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah.
15. In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die.”
16. So while Joab had the city under siege, he put Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were.
17. When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of the men in David’s army fell; moreover, Uriah the Hittite died.

2 SAMUEL 12:7-9.

7. Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
8. I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.
9. Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

TOPIC: BLOODSHED.

MESSAGE:
Bloodshed means the killing or wounding of people during a conflict. God forbids murder and adultery (Ex. 20:16-17). It is the duty of kings and leaders to protect the interests of their subjects. But in today's text, David failed to do that in the case of Uriah. He coveted Uriah's wife, committed adultery with her, and got her pregnant. All attempts to cover his sin failed, so he resolved to bloodshed. However, God exposed and condemned his actions. David disregarded God's grace to such an extent. We face temptations daily. Like David, who committed murder, some commit abortion to cover their sin of fornication or adultery. Remember God poured his grace into our lives through Christ. Therefore, you must learn to seek His will in prayer to overcome temptation.

REFLECTION:
Do not shed innocent blood.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to respect human life. Amen.

SUB-THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.

TOPIC: UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP.

TEXT: GENESIS 13:5-7.

5 Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had flocks of sheep, herds, and tents.

6 But the land could not support them living together, because they had so many livestock that they could not stay together. Gen 36:7

7 There was strife between the herdsmen in charge of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen in charge of Lot’s livestock. Also, at that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land. Gen 12:6

TOPIC: UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP.

MESSAGE:
Today's text reveals how Abraham and Lot prospered greatly that the land in which they were living could not Contain them. Instead of tolerating one another, their herders broke into quarrels. Whenever there is a quarrel, the relationship becomes sour. The quarrel between the herders affected the relationship between Abraham and Lot. Brethren, if we are so concerned about Ourselves without considering the interests of others, there will be no healthy relationship (Jam. 4:1-2). As Christians, God blesses us in diverse ways. Therefore, we must not allow the blessings of others to make us envious. Doing so will cause a breach in relationships and hinder our effectiveness. Like Abraham, learn to tolerate and settle matters amicably.

REFLECTION:
Self-interest hampers relationships.

Lord Jesus, help me to be Concerned about others. Amen.

Although born in Billiri, his roots trace back to Kaler Village in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he belongs to the Ngas ethnic group, a people known for their rich cultural heritage and strong Christian faith.

For Rotgak Tompet Kassem, music is more than entertainment—it is ministry. His passion is to glorify God and encourage people through songs filled with biblical truth, hope, and worship.
His spiritual home is the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), where he serves as a member of COCIN LCC Centre RCC Bauchi. His commitment to God and the church has shaped both his ministry and his music.

WEDNESDAY 22ND JULY, 2026

SUB-THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.

TOPIC: CONFLICTS.

TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 21:15-22.

15. Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.
16. And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David.
17. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”
18. In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
19. In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.
20. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
21. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him.
22. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

TOPIC: CONFLICTS.

MESSAGE:
Failure to respond appropriately to God's grace leads to unnecessary conflicts. Today's text recounts the constant conflict between the Israelites and the Philistines. This was because Israel failed to obey God's instruction. Conflicts and wars are inevitable in an environment where complete obedience and laws are not adhered to. Continual conflicts do not only affect the people but cause significant setbacks. The church is called to be a holy community. When we maintain an unequal yoke with unbelievers, we will experience spiritual and moral setbacks (2 Cor. 6:14). How is your relationship with unbelievers around you? You are called to be salt and light to them by directing them to the saving grace of God. Are you shining the light? If not, redress your lifestyle.

REFLECTION:
Do not be the reason for conflicts.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to eschew all forms of conflicts. Amen.

SUB-THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.

TOPIC: LIVING IN FEAR.

TEXT: GENESIS 32:3-8.

3. 'Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
4. He instructed them: “This is what you are to say to my lord Esau: ‘Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now.
5. I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, male and female servants. Now I am sending this message to my lord, that I may find favor in your eyes.’ ”
6. When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, “We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”
7. In great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well.
8. He thought, “If Esau comes and attacks one group, the group that is left may escape.”

TOPIC: LIVING IN FEAR.

MESSAGE:
Today's text shows that since the day Jacob took the blessing of his elder brother Esau, he continued to live in fear. Out of fear and guilt, he ran away to live with Laban. After a long time, Jacob planned to return home, but the fear of meeting his brother gripped him, as he thought Esau would harm him. Some people are living in fear because their past is haunting them. If you refuse to amend your wrong, you will continue to live in fear. To overcome that, you have to confess and seek forgiveness (Prov. 28:13). Are you living in fear for any reason? No matter how hard you try to hide or set aside pending issues, harmony will elude you unless you genuinely repent.

REFLECTION:
Fear torments.

Father, help me overcome my fears in Jesus' name. Amen.

SUB-THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.

TOPIC: UNSTABLE GOVERNMENT.

TEXT: 1 KINGS 15:25-32.

25. Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.
26. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the ways of his father and committing the same sin his father had caused Israel to commit.
27. Baasha son of Ahijah from the tribe of Issachar plotted against him, and he struck him down at Gibbethon, a Philistine town, while Nadab and all Israel were besieging it.
28. Baasha killed Nadab in the third year of Asa king of Judah and succeeded him as king.
29. As soon as he began to reign, he killed Jeroboam’s whole family. He did not leave Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all, according to the word of the Lord given through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.
30. This happened because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel.
31. As for the other events of Nadab’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
32. There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their reigns.

TOPIC: UNSTABLE GOVERNMENT.

MESSAGE:
Incessant overthrowing of government is an indication of selfish ambitions and lack of trust. In this text, Nadab had just reigned for two years when he was overthrown and killed by Baasha. Then, the successive and merciless killings of kings continued (1 Kg. 18:8-10, 15, 23). There was no stable government but bloodshed upon bloodshed. This signifies that there was no fear of God and respect for life. Injustice, corruption, and power tussles are common in many nations. When people disregard God's grace, they are bound to do things their way. When their tribe or preferred candidate is not in a leadership position, they cause instability and unnecessary problems. Citizens and leaders have a shared responsibility to ensure societal stability by doing the right thing. Make that your ambition.

REFLECTION:
Do not neglect your civic responsibility.

Lord, help our leaders to do what is right. Amen.

KEY POINTS

1. Repentance is a turning point or total change from the former way of life into a new dimension of life. When an individual repents, they acknowledge their shortcomings and inabilities.

2. A heart that is ready for Repentance, is that heart that is ready to worship and Believe God.
3. Sometimes our Blessings are denied because we have not change our ways (Repentance)

4. Grace does not excuse sin, but empowers a Believer to obey God.

5. Grace leads us to newness of life. It transforms us into people that belongs to God.
This is always evident in the way we live.

6. God wants you to come just the way you are. It doesn't matter the degree of your sins. He is ready to receive you. His Grace is made suficient for you.
