Scripture Union Daily Guide Review for December 9, 2025 Text: 1 Samuel 28:1-25 Theme: RETURNING TO OUR VOMIT
To the best of my knowledge, it's only dogs that return to its vomit among all creatures on the face of the Earth. In 2 Peter 2:22, believers were warned not to be like dog that returns to it's vomit. King Saul at a time in his zeal for God and while living in obedience to God, wiped away all forms of familiar spirit practices and consultations. The wizard at Endor testified about that to Saul (verse 9). This would have been enough reason for Saul to know he was going back to its vomit but he continued, due to desperation and selfishness. May God deliver us from self-will and disobedience.
Eventually, what did Saul get from the wizard as solution to the intimidating soldiers of the Philistines? He got the greatest shock of his life. Death sentence, not just for himself alone but for his two sons. Above all, the kingdom retention that he has been fight for, to be taking over by the Philistines (verses 16-19). Many ministers that has fallen from faith, do go back to the weak and beggarly gods (Galatians 4:9) when they know God have abandoned them. Was the Lord with him all the while he was chasing after David? It is disastrous if as a believer, you don't know when the spirit of God have left you. You will agree with me that it was not funny with Saul on the outcome of Endor wizard encounter. On the other hand, don't wait until there is a big threat to life and property before seeking the face of God. Also, don't seek for God wi
