THE RIGHTS OF THE LESS PRIVILEGED
Luke 10:25-37
The Anglican Church of Nigeria has this theme today Sunday 1st September, 2024 for their divine service all over the nation. And I thought of sharing my thoughts on this theme with us.
The Less Privileged are the poor, destitute, strangers, those in need and all that we rend service or help around us. A rich man for instance, could be in a situation where he seeks direction from another in his journey. At that moment he needs help and can be classified as less privileged in our theme.
Scriptures exhorts us as believers of the Lord Jesus Christ on how we should live with those in such situations. It's their rights as scriptures teaches us.
1. We should not mistreat them
2. We should not do injustice in judgement or measurement to them
3. We should care for them
4. We should treat them as our own or ourselves.
The basis for this attitude should be LOVE and not as obligation. For with COMPASSION the Samaritan took care of the robbed and wounded stranger. (Luke 10:33)
For all gifts, helps, and care without LOVE profits nothing. (1 Cor. 13: 3) Jesus Christ charging His listeners asked them to go and should kindness to others as the Samaritan had done. (Luke 10:37)
Show kindness to others, be a blessing to others, help someone: a poor person, a stranger, one who need help, speak out for someone who do not have a voice, pray for sick, visit those who are challenged, call your friends and families gather funds send to one who needs it. Look around you, pay the transport fee for that teenager, pay the bill of that single mother or widow caring for her children all by herself. Forgive that brother, sister, wife, husband, colleague or friend, show mercy.
Do something this month Do something, nothing is too small and you will experience Joy you have never know!!!
SHOW KINDNESS
