Decide To Grow In Your Walk With God

1 Corinthians 3:1-3 ( GNB )

As a matter of fact, my friends, I could not talk to you as I talk to people who have the Spirit; I had to talk to you as though you belonged to this world, as children in the Christian faith. I had to feed you with milk, not solid food because you were not ready for it. And even now you are not ready for it, because you still live as the people of this world live. When there is jealousy among you and you quarrel with one another, doesn't this prove that you belong to this world, living by its standard? 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 ( GNB )

Just as growth is expected from children in natural, growth is also expected from you as God's child. When you refuse to grow, you will be depriving yourself of so many wonderful things. There are greater things that God wants to reveal to you and use you to do in the lives of others, but none of these will be possible if you refuse to grow spiritually, Hebrews 5:11-12. When you refuse to grow, you will also find yourself unable to live the way that God wants you to live as His beloved child.

God wants you to grow in your faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience and godliness, brotherly kindness and charity. 2 Peter 1:8-9 says, "These are the qualities you need, and if you have them in abundance, they will make you active and effective in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if you do not have them, you are so short-sighted that you can not see and have forgotten that you have been purified from your past sins." God wants you to mature spiritually and put away childish things, 1 Corinthians 13:11.

Desire to grow spiritually, 1 Peter 2:2-3. Desire and commit yourself to the things that will make you grow spiritually. Pray always and study the Word of God in line with the revelation of Christ ( Luke 18:1, Colossians 3:16 ). Pray in the Spirit ( Jude 1:20 ). Pray for others ( Ephesians 6:18 ) and fellowship with other believers ( Hebrews 10: 25 ). Be a doer of God word ( James 1: 22 ). Love righteousness and hate iniquity, Hebrews 1:9. Be careful of the kind of company that you keep, ( 1 Corinthians 15:33 ). Preach the gospel ( Romans 1:16 ). Walk in the Spirit ( Galatians 5:16 ). Walk in love, ( Ephesians 5:1 ). Walk by faith ( 2 Corinthians 5:7 ). Keep your focus on Christ, 2 Corinthians 3:18.

Prayer Focus:

Pray in the Spirit and tell God you desire to grow spiritually.
Thank Him for the grace to be committed to things that will make you grow.

Do Not Be Discouraged

1 Kings 19:2-4
.. Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. 1 Kings 19:2-4

Immediately after Elijah called down fire from Heaven and got the prophets of Baal executed, and prayed on the mountain for the rain to fall after a long drought, Jezebel sent a threat to Elijah and he was discouraged. One reason Elijah might have been affected very badly by this threat was that he might not have been expecting it. Instead of getting applause and cheer for doing God's will, he was getting attacks and threats. There will be so many things that will attempt to discourage you as you commit yourself to doing God's will. You must not allow them to discourage you. Keep your eyes on the One who called you and commissioned to do His will. Do not allow hurts and offences to discourage you from continuing to do God's will for your life. Do not also let evil reports discourage you. After spying out the land that God had promised to the Israelites, the ten spies brought back an evil report and it discouraged the heart of the Israelites, Numbers 13:32-33. Spying out the land was supposed to be like a feasibility study that will guide them in planning towards doing God's will. It is good to strategize and plan but do not let anything make you lose your focus on God and what He has said to you. Do not let anything fizzle out your faith.

Just as God sent an angel to give Elijah a supernatural meal that sustained him for a 40 - day journey ( 1 Kings 19:5-8 ), I see God causing His supernatural strength and courage to be stirred up in you. Receive supernatural help and strength right now in the Name of Jesus! God also used an Angel to strengthen Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, Luke 22:43-44. God is strengthening and comforting you right now. He will restore your vision and He will cause His goodness and favour to abound towards you on all sides.

Prayer:

Pray in the Spirit now and receive the strength and comfort of God. Pray for divine encouragement for others who may be discouraged.

Grace For Walking In Holiness

Romans 12:1-2(NIV), 2Corinthians 7:1 (LB)
..I urge you... In view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God---this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is---his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

Having such great promises as these,....let us turn away from everything wrong, whether of body or spirit, and purify ourselves, living in the wholesome fear of God, giving ourselves to him alone. 2Corinthians 7:1 (LB)

In Christ, God has sanctified you. To sanctify is to set apart. God has separated you unto Himself and now He wants you to separate yourself from sin and live holy unto Him. God wants you to perfect holiness out of fear (reverence) for Him. He wants you to co-operate with Him to complete the good work of sanctification that He has begun in you, Phil.2:13. The beginning of holy living is understanding all that Jesus accomplished for us on the Cross and accepting them as our reality, Rom.6:11. When you died on the cross with Jesus, the nature of sin that you had was destroyed. By your resurrection with Jesus, you were raised up to a new life, Rom.6:4-6. The Holy Spirit will help you to live a holy life. As you yield to his leading you will not fulfil the lusts of your flesh, Gal.5:16. By the empowerment of the spirit, we are able to put to death the deeds of the flesh, Rom.8:13. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God lives in you, 1Cor.6:19. Decide to manifest and work in holiness in every area of your life beginning with the words of your mouth and your thoughts, Psa.19:14.

Do not feed the lusts of the flesh, starve them. Feed the nature of God that is in you. God hates sin and that is why he punished sin by the death of Jesus on the Cross. Love and desire holiness as you hate and abstain from sin. The Bible says of Jesus that he loved righteousness and hated iniquity, Heb 1:9. The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in every way and yet he was without sin. As we focus on Jesus He will show us his mercy if we fall (1John 2:1-2) and he will also empower us to overcome just like He did, Heb. 4:14-16.
Let your appreciation for the life and mercy that God has shown you in Christ, motivate you to present your body as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable unto God.

Prayer:

Dear Father, I thank you that I died with Jesus on the Cross and I was raised to a holy and new life. I yield myself to the leading of your spirit in me.

Prepare Yourself By Yielding To God's Voice

Hebrews 11:7a, Isaiah 40:3-5

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;... Hebrews 11:7a

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the month of the LORD hath spoken it. Isaiah 40:3-5

One of the greatest advantages of prayer is that it builds intimacy between us and God: and this intimacy helps us to be more sensitive to God's leading and direction. As God speaks to you about things He wants to do in preparation or in fulfilment of His will for your life. He wants you to yield yourself passionately and wholeheartedly to His leading.

You are like a channel or road through which God wants to move and flow into the earth. God wants you to prepare a highway in your life for Him to be able to move and flow freely into the world to touch and bless the lives of others through you. As you focus on God and yield to His leading in your life, valleys your life will be exalted, mountains and hills in your life will be made low, crooked paths in your life will be made straight and rough places in your life will be made smooth. God's glory will be seen through your life.

When God told Noah to build an ark because of the flood that was going to destroy the earth, Noah yielded to God's leading and that ark he prepared became a channel for God to preserve the life of him and his family to continue God's will on the earth. Both the flood and the building of the ark must have sounded strange and impossible to Noah, but by faith, he yielded himself to God's leading. In Acts 26:19, Apostle Paul said he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. Despite the sufferings he knew was going to face to fulfil God's will of preaching to the glorious gospel of Christ to the Gentiles, he yielded himself passionately and wholeheartedly to God's leading and his obedience led to the saving and blessing of so many lives.

Prayer:
Speak to me, dear Lord. I yield myself to you. Use me to touch and bless lives, I yield to your mighty work in me. Let your glory be seen in my life.

Prepare Yourself To Fulfill God's Will

Luke 12:42-43, 47-48

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Luke 12:42-43

And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required"..... Luke 47-48

Before Jesus gave the analogy He used in our text above, He was telling his disciples about being alert and being up and as they await His return. In the analogy, Jesus spoke about one servant that faithfully did what the master wanted, while the master was away, and another servant who was busy doing something different from the assignment his master gave him. He was productive in the wrong thing. Jesus said the reason the other servant was doing the wrong thing was because the servant did not prepare himself to do the master's will. What is your story going to be when Jesus returns? How well are you preparing yourself to fulfil God's will for your life?

God has given you everything that you need to prepare yourself to do His will for your life. In Hebrews 10:5 &7, Jesus said, "... Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me : *Then said I, Lo, I come ( in the volume of the book it is written of me, ) to do thy will, O God". God has given you all that pertains to life and godliness, but you have to be diligent to make your calling and election sure, 2 Peter 1:3-10. You must be prepared to put the grace that God has given you to work so that God's grace upon your life will not be in vain, 1 Corinthians 15:10. Jesus was very eager to do the will of God the Father and Jesus also valued preparation a lot. One of the first ways to prepare ourselves to fulfil God's will is through prayer. God wants us to pray without ceasing ( 1 Thess.5:17 ) and He wants us to always pray in the Spirit and pray for all saints ( Ephesians 6:18 ). Jesus prayerfully prepared himself to do God's will on earth and He prayed a lot throughout His time on earth. Luke 3:21 says even as Jesus came to be baptized by John the Baptist, He was praying.

Prayer Focus:

Pray in the Spirit right now and yield yourself to God for His empowerment and Leading to do His will. Pray same for other believers also.

WHAT ARE YOU SUPPLYING TO THE BODY OF CHRIST?

Ephesians 4:16 ( KJV & GNB )

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual Working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16 (KJV)

Under is control, all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love. Ephesians 4:16 ( GNB )

Our text above says it is what every part of the body of Christ supplies that makes the body of Christ to grow as it should. As a part of the body of Christ, what are you suppling? The body of Christ needs you to survive. Don't ever despise your seed or contribution. It is going a very long way and it is changing lives. And as you continue giving, God will keep increasing your capacity so you can continue to be a blessing, 2 Cor .9.6-11.
One of the greatest ways that God wants you to be a blessing to others, is by being a blessing to His work and His people. Gal6:10 says "as we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of Faith". You can pray, you can give, you can show love, you can use your gift and abilities to serve in one capacity or the other, you can preach the gospel.

We must know that whatever we are doing for God's work and God's people, we are doing it unto God. When Saul was prosecuting the church, Jesus asked him and said, "Saul, Saul, why are you prosecuting me?" Act9:4. Jesus said whatever we do to the least of his brethren, we are doing unto him, matt 25:40.

When the Israelites were leaving Egypt, by Moses' instructions and God's favour, the Israelites received a lot of material riches from Egyptians, Exodus 12:35-36. When it was time to build the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, Moses asked the people for freewill offerings (Exo 35:4-5) and the Bible says the people gave until the resources were too much and Moses had to ask them to stop giving, (Exo 36:3-6). How will it be, if you and I gave ourselves to be a blessing to God's work and His people in this way? God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ, Ephesians 1:3. Now, He wants us to be a great blessing to the body of Christ.

PRAYER:
Tell God that you desire to be a great blessing to the body of Christ. Ask Him to fill you and use you mightily to be a blessing to the body of Christ.

Prepare To Be A Blessing To Others

Genesis 12:2, Genesis 50:19-21.

And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.
Genesis 12:2

But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid; I can't put myself in the place of God. You plotted evil against me, but God turned it into good, in order to preserve the lives of many people who are alive today because of what happened. You have nothing to fear. I will take care of you and your children." So he reassured them with kind words that touched their hearts. Genesis 50:19-21.

If your vision in life is only about how only you and your immediate family will be blessed, then your vision is not big enough. God's plan for your life will be a great blessing to many lives. You need to prepare your mind for this and stretch your vision accordingly. Just as it happened in the life of Joseph, there are many things that you go through that God is actually allowing you to go through just to prepare and position you to be a great blessing unto others. Psalms 105:17 says, "He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant." Joseph was conscious of this. It made him have the right attitude both during, and after all he went through. In 2 Corinthians 1:4, Apostle Paul said God comforts us in all our troubles in such a way that we will be able to comfort anyone going through any trouble.

Do not dig pits or set traps for others. Do not wish evil for anyone. Do not put an obstacle in anyone's way. The Bible says he that digs a pit shall fall inside, Prov. 26:27, Psa. 57:6. Haman was hanged on the gallows he prepared for Mordecai, Esth. 7:10. Forgive people because they know not what they are doing. They do not know how what they are doing will work out together for your good. Do not lose sight of the grace of God. Do not allow bitterness to spring up in your heart to trouble you and defile others, Heb. 12:15. The Bible says you should not be overcome with evil. Rather, overcome evil with good, Rom. 12:21. In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, "But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Keeping your eyes on God's great love for you and keep reflecting God's great love unto others. Keep being a blessing unto others.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I desire to be a great channel of your blessing unto others. Help me to increase my vision and to keep showing love to others.

Wisdom for Preparation

Genesis 41:14, 34-36, Proverbs 30:25..Pharaoh sent and called Joseph. and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
Genesis 41:14

Let Pharaoh do this, take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. And gather all the food of those good years .. and lay up corn.... and let them keep food in the cities. And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine... in the land of Egypt ... Genesis 34-36

The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; Proverbs 30:25

Adequate preparation is vital for productivity and fruitfulness. The time when you prepare is also very important. You do not prepare for a war in the time of war. You prepare for war in the time of peace. Joseph did not wait for the famine in Egypt to come before he prepared for it. Do not wait for trying times to come before you start studying God’s word, declaring God’s word and praying fervently. Do not wait for exam time before you start studying your books. The Bible says, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD,” Prov.21:31. The fact that God will protect you and give you victory does not mean you should not prepare or be security conscious. The grace of God is not an excuse for mediocrity, carelessness or laziness. There is no excuse why you should not prepare adequately. The haste with which Joseph was being brought to Pharoah did not stop Joseph from changing his clothes and shaving himself. Despite how small and weak the ants are, they understand different seasons and they know how to prepare their food in summer so they can survive during the winter.

The Holy Spirit will help you to prepare adequately. He will show you things to come and He will move you to prepare and position yourself rightly for them. When He stirs up your heart to make certain preparations for the future, yield wholeheartedly to Him. He will help you understand times and seasons. The Good News Bible, 1 Chronicles 12:32 says. “Issachar: 200 leaders, together with the men under their command (these leaders knew what Israel should do and the best time to do it)" A few things that enhance our yielding and being committed to preparation are hope, vision and discipline.

Prayer: Dear Father. I thank you for the wisdom and ability you have given me to be sensitive to your leading to prepare adequately in every area of my life.

How Deep Are Your Roots? Part 2

Colossians 2:6-7 (LB), Romans 8:35 & 37

And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day's problems; live in vital union with him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done. Colossians 2:6-7 (LB)

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, ...... Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:35 & 37

One major reason why your faith in God's love needs to be deep and not shallow is because your faith in God's love is surely going to be tested. Whenever your faith is being tested, it is actually your consciousness of God's great love for you that is being tested. It is only when you are conscious of God's great love for you that you can count it all joy when your faith is being tested with all kinds of trials and temptations, James 1:2-3. It is the love of God in our hearts that gives us hope to go through trials and tribulations patiently knowing that they are working out together for our good, (Romans 5:3-5, Romans 8:28). Your knowledge of God's love will help you to remain standing when the evil day comes, Ephesians 6:13. Being deeply rooted in God's love makes us able to give thanks in all things and to rejoice even in our tribulations, Romans 5:3-5.

When our faith in God's love is not deep enough, our trials and tribulations will easily make us get offended or faint-hearted. Like the seed that fell on the ground, we may receive God's word with joy but if we are not deeply rooted in God's love, when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, we will get offended, matt.13:20-21. Jesus said, ".... blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me," Matt.11:6. When we refuse to get offended by what we are going through, nothing will be able to stop us from growing and remaining fruitful and productive like Joseph, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego said, "Our God is able to save us from this fiery furnace, but even if He does not save us we will not bow to any other god ", Daniel 3:16 -18. Keep your eyes on God's love for you and not on the attitude of men towards you. Keep your eyes on what God did for you on the Cross through Jesus and not on your condition or experience.

Prayer:
Take me deeper in your love, dear Father. Help me to keep my eyes on your love for me and on all you have done for me on the Cross through Jesus.

How Deep Are Your Roots?

Ephesians 3:17-19 ( LB )

And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvellous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so, at last, you will be filled up with God himself. Ephesians 3:17-19 (LB)

Just as the roots of a plant helps it connect with the soil so it can draw nutrients and remain stable for its growth and fruitfulness, your faith in Christ helps you to stay connected to Him and draw spiritual nutrients and strength from Him for fruitfulness in every area of your life and to help you remain stable in your growth, relationship and walk with Him. Your faith is your root. How deep is your faith in God's love? God wants our root (faith) to go deep down into His love. The Bible says the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17) and the Bible also says that faith works by love, Galatians 5:6. The Bible says that perfect love drives away fear, 1 John 4:8. Our understanding of the perfect love God has for us drives out every fear from our lives. God wants us to be deliberate about focussing on His love and getting deeper in the revelation of His great love for us. Jude 1:21 says, "Keep yourselves to the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."

So many believers do not yet have a clue of how much God really loves them. God's love for us is so much that we can never fully know and understand the various dimension and ramifications of God's love for us. The last verse of our text above shows us that it is our revelation of God's love that fills us up with His fullness. God answers your prayers because He loves you tenderly, John 16:26-27(AMP). God loved you so much while you were still a sinner, and much more now that you are His child, He will save us with His life and goodness, (Romans 5:8-10, Romans 8:32). One of the assignments of the Holy Spirit is to spread the revelation of God's love in our hearts, Romans 5:5. God wants us to know that He loves us as much as He loves Jesus, John 17:23.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I ask that by your Spirit, you will open my eyes and fill my heart with more of the revelation of the great love that you have for me.
