MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
APRIL EDITION
Thursday, 2nd April 2026.

TOPIC: REMEMBER THE POOR II

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Samuel 7; 2 Samuel 8; 2 Samuel 9; 1 John 3; 1 John 4

FIRE SCRIPTURE:
Deuteronomy 15: 7-8

7. If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

8. But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: Let your life be marked by genuine care for the least, the last and the lost.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: This year, the Lord will bless you mightily and make you His channel of blessing to the poor and needy, in the name of Jesus

PRAISE & WORSHIP

THE MESSAGE:
Remembering the poor is not about an occasional charity, but about making care for the poor a regular part of ministry and life. In Romans 12:13, the Bible
enjoins believers to distribute to the necessity of the saints and be given to hospitality. Similarly, in Galatians 2:10 the apostles, particularly James, Peter and John, told Paul and Barnabas to remember the poor in their ministry.

Paul agreed with them and stated that it was something he was already eager to do. Beloved, God expects you to take care of the poor and needy on a regular basis. Let us now examine some ways you can practically show love and care to the poor, needy and vulnerable.

First, you can serve then with compassion or acts of kindness and mercy. This entails listening and learning about their struggles, showing empathy, treating them with dignity and standing up for their rights and justice.

Second, you can provide them practical help by offering food, shelter, clothing, or financial assistance. Let your empowerment programme and palliatives be human-centred and lift them out of poverty

(3) Provide them means of livelihood by organizing skill acquisition programmes where they can receive entrepreneurial training and seed capital to start a business and be self-employed or help them get paid employment. This particular step will require that you do follow-up and mentoring for the beneficiaries of your programme.

(4) Stand up for policies and initiatives that address poverty and inequality. You can call for or lend your voice to a private bill, motion or referendum to end poverty through social welfare support, job training and economic empowerment. Use your voice to raise awareness about issues affecting the poor and vulnerable

(5) Share the gospel with them. Jesus Christ is the One who can truly meet all their needs. The poor need salvation more than anything else.

If you truly love and care for them, you should also be concerned about their souls and witness Christ to them. Once they become born again, heaven will take good care of them. Beloved, God doesn’t want you to live a self-centred life. True religion is actively reaching out to those suffering and ensuring their well-being (James 1:27).

Topic: YOUR GLORY AND YOUR ESAU.
Text: Genesis 32:1-11.

Until you have confronted your personal Esau, you will not enter the promised land of your glory. Each person’s Esau is unique; yours might be falsifying credentials, harbouring secret lust, a bad habit, or an unconfessed sin.

I pray for you that the Lord shall help you to defeat every Esau in your life, in the name of Jesus. (Amen!)

*TOPIC:
DANGERS OF THE COMFORT ZONE.*

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Joshua 6; Joshua 7; Joshua 8; Colossians 1; Colossians 2

MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 14:29: And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Your comfort zone may feel safe, but it is not where God shapes you.

PROPHETICALLY WORD FOR TODAY: Receive the power to do exploits for God, in the name of Jesus.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

FIRE SCRIPTURE:
Revelation 3:15-16

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

THE MESSAGE:
What is a comfort zone? It is a place or situation in which you feel safe or comfortable. Choosing to stay in this situation instead of trying to work harder or achieve more is the crux of the matter in our devotional today. Stepping outside your comfort zone and trying new things can be a great experience if you develop the staying power through God’s grace.

From a biblical standpoint, the comfort zone can be one of the greatest hindrances to spiritual growth, maximising your potential and achieving more. The Bible repeatedly challenges believers to step out in faith into uncomfortable, uncertain, and even risky situations because that is where God works most powerfully. When we prioritise comfort, we risk becoming spiritually stagnant. Jesus warned the church in Laodicea about their lukewarm faith as we can see in Revelation 3:15-16. Remaining lukewarm means choosing comfort over commitment, and safety over sacrifice. God often calls His people into the unknown to grow their faith. For example, Abraham left everything familiar, trusting God’s promise. Faith that never gets tested never steps out and does not grow (Genesis 12, Hebrews 11:8). He opted for discomfort, and God honoured His word concerning Him.

Fear can convince us that staying put is being wise. But when fear overrides obedience, we miss divine opportunities. Only Peter had the faith to leave the boat, and only he experienced walking on water. You may say he sank, but Jesus caught him. Staying in the boat might feel safe, but it is not where miracles happen. Miracles don’t happen in your comfort zone. The dangers of staying in your comfort zone include: spiritual complacency, missed opportunities, shallow faith, and a life of unfulfilled dreams and vision. God is calling you to trust Him beyond your limits because His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

PRAYER POINTS

MORNING
*1. O Lord, deliver me from the spirit of fear, in the name of Jesus.*

*2. O Lord, reveal Your will to me, in the name of Jesus.*

*3. Every spirit of error and mistake assigned against me, die, in the name of Jesus.*

EVENING
*4. O Lord, give me the power to do exploits for You, in the name of Jesus.*

*5. I shall not give up, no matter what the enemy does, in the name of Jesus.*

*6. I shall arise and shine, in the name of Jesus.*

*7. O Lord, baptise me with the spirit of excellence, in the name of Jesus.*
