Our requests to God must be specific. Jesus prayed all night before choosing His disciples, showing that even decisions about people, structure, and assignment must be brought before God in prayer. If we desire the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in a particular area, we must take that area specifically to God and allow the living waters to flow over it.

The world will see the mighty works of God through us when we refuse to hijack the Spirit’s empowerment and instead release ourselves fully to Him (Luke 6:12–13; Colossians 1:9–10; John 7:38–39).

When the rivers of living water are stirred within us, we become channels of blessing to others. The Holy Spirit empowers creativity for leadership, business, career, relationships, parenting, service, and every area of life. We must not allow carnality, selfishness, or disobedience to clog the flow. Repentance is ongoing; when anything hinders the bubbling of the waters, we turn to God, yield our will, and allow His life to flow through us again (John 7:38–39; Romans 12:1–2; 2 Timothy 1:6).

The believer does not need to wait helplessly by the pool of Bethesda. We carry rivers of living water within us. We do not wait endlessly for an external stirring when the Spirit of God is already within us. By staying with the Word and praying in the Spirit, we stir up the waters within, and the life of God begins to bubble from our spirit into our soul, shaping our mind, emotions, will, imagination, and decisions according to God’s purpose (John 5:1–9; John 7:37–39; Jude 1:20).

Solomon teaches us that technical knowledge is not enough for kingdom responsibility. When God asked what he wanted, Solomon asked for an understanding heart to judge God’s people and discern between good and evil. He had been meditating on the weight of the assignment before God appeared to him.

In every new role, promotion, office, or assignment, we must ask God for understanding, because there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding (1 Kings 3:5–12; Job 32:8).

Bezalel and Aholiab show us that God empowers skill, workmanship, administration, design, teaching, and ex*****on by the Holy Spirit. They were gifted artisans, but the Spirit of God came upon their gifts with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all manner of workmanship. God wanted the tabernacle, furniture, garments, anointing oil, incense, and every detail of that assignment to be executed by the Holy Ghost. In the same way, God wants our different tasks, careers, and assignments to be carried out by His Spirit (Exodus 31:1–11; Exodus 36:1–2).

Life is largely spiritual. Business is spiritual, family is spiritual, marriage is spiritual, parenting is spiritual, career is spiritual, and service is spiritual. The devil wants men to think everything is merely natural, but behind many physical outcomes are spiritual dynamics. Therefore, the believer must not operate only by skill or surface knowledge; we must depend on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in every sphere of life (Ephesians 6:12; Zechariah 4:6; Acts 1:8).

The spiritual man is led by the Holy Spirit. God’s word shapes his mind because the word of Christ dwells in him richly. His heart is bent towards righteousness and truth, and he discerns spiritually, walks in faith and obedience, produces the fruit of the Spirit, and keeps growing in God. The spiritual man is not perfect by self-effort, but his permanent inclination is towards the will and counsel of God (Romans 8:14; Colossians 3:16; Galatians 5:22–25; Colossians 1:9–10).

The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit because they are foolishness to him. Yet the natural man is still creative because every man is made in the image of God. However, creativity that is not yielded to God can easily be hijacked by the devil, because the spirit of the natural man is not alive to God. This is why every veil must be removed, so men can see the light of the glorious gospel and come into Christ (1 Corinthians 2:14; Genesis 1:26–27; 2 Corinthians 4:3–6).

Carnality is the condition of a believer whose life is still ruled by the flesh. The carnal man has received Christ, but envy, strife, division, selfishness, and fleshly desires still dictate his expressions.

"God forbid" is not a spiritual strategy; when we see envy, strife, or division in us, we must repent and ask the Lord to rid us of them, so that the flesh is not enthroned over the Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:2–3; Galatians 5:16–17).

A believer can be helped by the Holy Spirit and still hijack the promptings of the Spirit when flesh takes over. Samson was empowered by God, but when he began to follow the cravings of the flesh, he moved from divine occasion into self-driven decisions. We must not hijack what God is doing in our lives; we must stay yielded to His consecration and counsel (Judges 13:3–5; Judges 14:1–4; Judges 16:15–21).

The Watergate Church
Transformation Service (Sunday, May 24, 2026)
Ministering: Pastor Tosin Adesina
Topic: GOOD SUCCESS: SIGNATURE OF KINGDOM ACHIEVERS (CREATIVITY +)
Text: Exodus 31:1–11, 1 Kings 3:5–12, John 7:37–39

Creativity Plus is Holy Spirit-inspired creativity. It is the believer’s creativity submitted to God, empowered by the Spirit, and released for God’s purpose. The burden of this word is that we must drink well and drink deep, so that we do not "hijack" the promptings of the Holy Spirit, but yield our gifts, skills, careers, families, businesses, and lives to the flow of God’s living waters.
