JIHAD VS TERRORISM: A CLEAR DISTINCTION IN ISLAM.

Many people confuse Jihad with terrorism. However, according to the Quran and authentic Sunnah, they are completely different.

1. PURPOSE

Jihad is a legitimate struggle carried out to defend truth, justice, and the oppressed under Islamic principles.

Allah says:

"Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought because they have been wronged."

(Quran 22:39)

Terrorism seeks to spread fear, chaos, and destruction among innocent people for political, ideological, or personal goals.

2. TARGETS

Islam strictly forbids the killing of non-combatants.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

"Do not kill women, children, the elderly, or monks."

Reference: Sunan Abi Dawud 2669

Terrorists intentionally target innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.

3. PROTECTION OF HUMAN LIFE

Allah says:

"Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had slain all mankind."

(Quran 5:32)

Terrorism violates the sanctity of human life and disregards the rights given by Allah.

4. TREATMENT OF NON-MUSLIMS

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

"Whoever kills a Muahid (a non-Muslim under protection) shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise."

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 3166

Terrorism often attacks innocent people regardless of their rights, agreements, or protection.

5. RULES OF WAR

Islam prohibits:

1. Killing civilians.

2. Torture.

3. Mutilation of bodies.

4. Betrayal of treaties.

5. Destruction of crops and property without necessity.

Terrorism ignores moral laws and ethical restrictions.

6. SPREADING FEAR

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

"It is not lawful for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim."

Terrorism is based on spreading fear and panic among innocent people.

7. ISLAM'S VERDICT

Jihad is an act of worship when performed according to the Quran and Sunnah under legitimate Islamic conditions.

Terrorism is a major sin and a crime against humanity.

Allah says:

"And do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not love the transgressors."

(Quran 2:190)

CONCLUSION

Jihad protects innocent lives.

Terrorism destroys innocent lives.

Jihad is governed by divine laws.

Terrorism rejects divine laws.

Jihad seeks justice.

Terrorism spreads injustice.

Therefore, equating Jihad with terrorism is a serious misunderstanding of Islamic teachings.

DOES THE BIBLE TEACH THE WORSHIP OF ONE GOD ONLY?

1. Deuteronomy 6:4

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."

Question to Christians:
If the LORD is one, where does the Bible clearly teach that God is three persons to be worshipped?

2. Deuteronomy 4:35

"The LORD is God; besides Him there is no other."

Question:
If there is no other God besides Him, why are prayers directed to Jesus?

3. Deuteronomy 32:39

"I, even I, am He, and there is no god besides Me."

Question:
If God says there is no god besides Him, what is the position of Jesus?

4. Isaiah 43:10-11

"Before Me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after Me... besides Me there is no savior."

Question:
If no god existed before or after God, how does the belief that Jesus is God fit this statement?

5. Isaiah 44:6

"I am the first and I am the last; besides Me there is no God."

Question:
If there is no God besides Him, who alone deserves worship?

6. Isaiah 45:5

"I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God."

Question:
Why does this verse not mention a second or third divine person?

7. Mark 12:29

Jesus answered:
"The Lord our God, the Lord is One."

Question:
If Jesus taught that God is One, when did he teach people to worship him as God?

8. Mark 12:32

"There is one God, and there is no other but He."

Question:
Why did Jesus not correct this statement if the doctrine of the Trinity was essential?

9. John 17:3

Jesus said:
"That they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Question:
If the Father is "the only true God," is Jesus identifying himself as that God or as the One sent by Him?

10. John 20:17

Jesus said:
"I ascend to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God."

Question:
How can God have a God above Him?

11. 1 Corinthians 8:6

"For us there is but one God, the Father."

Question:
Why does Paul identify the Father as the one God?

12. Ephesians 4:6

"One God and Father of all."

Question:
Why does this verse speak of one God, the Father, without mentioning a triune formula?

13. 1 Timothy 2:5

"There is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus."

Question:
If Jesus is the mediator between God and humanity, does that not distinguish him from God?

14. James 2:19

"You believe that God is one; you do well."

Question:
Why does James emphasize belief in one God without mentioning the Trinity?

Final Question

If the Bible repeatedly teaches that God is One, where did Jesus clearly say:

"I am God, worship Me"

or

"God is three persons in one being"?

UNDERSTANDING ZAKAT IN ISLAM

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and a means of purifying wealth. It is not merely charity; it is an obligation upon every Muslim who possesses wealth that reaches the prescribed threshold (Nisab).

Allah says:

"And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves, you will find it with Allah."
(Qur'an 2:110)

Key Benefits of Zakat:

It purifies wealth and the soul from greed.
It helps the poor, needy, and vulnerable members of society.
It promotes social justice and economic balance.
It strengthens brotherhood and compassion among Muslims.
It brings blessings and increase from Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"Protect your wealth by giving Zakat."
(Reported by al-Tabarani)

Every Muslim should learn the rulings of Zakat to ensure that this great act of worship is performed correctly and sincerely for the sake of Allah.

May Allah accept our worship, purify our wealth, and make us among those who fulfill His commands with sincerity.

One of the signs of an accepted Hajj is a positive transformation in the life of the pilgrim after returning home. Hajj is not merely a journey completed; it is a covenant renewed with Allah.

A Muslim who has performed Hajj should strive to maintain sincerity, increase acts of worship, uphold good character, avoid sins, and become a source of guidance and inspiration to others.

Allah says:

THE FOURTH BED IS FOR SATAN, UNDERSTANDING THE PROPHETIC TEACHING ON EXTRAVAGANCE

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"A bed for a man, a bed for his wife, a third for a guest, and a fourth is for Satan."

(Sahih Muslim 2084)

This noble hadith teaches Muslims the importance of moderation, simplicity, and avoiding unnecessary extravagance. The Prophet ﷺ was not teaching that Satan literally sleeps on a fourth bed. Rather, he was warning against wastefulness and the accumulation of things that serve no genuine need.

Islam encourages believers to use their wealth responsibly and to avoid excess in all aspects of life. When possessions are acquired merely for pride, display, or unnecessary luxury, they become a means through which Satan encourages wasteful behavior.

Allah says:

"Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils."

(Surah Al-Isra 17:27)

A true believer strives to maintain a balance between comfort and simplicity, gratitude and moderation, while ensuring that wealth is used in ways that please Allah.

May Allah grant us contentment, protect us from extravagance, and guide us to follow the noble example of His Messenger ﷺ.
