MASSIVE EVANGELISM AND SOUL-WINNING MISSION
(MESWM)
Message from the Last MESWM SOUL-WINNING SEMINAR
Theme: “PASSION FOR SOUL-WINNING”
Ref: John 4:3-9
INTRODUCTION:
From the above reference, the bible records that Jesus was going from Judaea to Galilee, but He decided to go through Samaria. When He finally got to Samaria, He was tired and He decided to rest for some time. While He was sitting on a well, a woman of Samaria came and Jesus asked her for water. Somehow, the woman knew that He was a Jew and it was strange for Jews to relate with Samaritans. It wasn't really wrong to communicate with strangers or give them water, but there was this conflict and separation between Jews and Samaritans. So the woman was surprised and she was forced to ask: “How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.” John 4:9.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:
1. Jesus couldn’t wait to eat, He ignored his hunger and went after the woman of Samaria. (John 4:3-8) What should we learn from this?
*As Christians and Soul Winners, we must not wait until everything is set and we are so comfortable before we go after souls. Soul-Winning opportunities come and go, and we may never meet certain people again in our entire life.*
2. Jesus said to a forbidden stranger “...Give me to drink”
What should be our response when we see people who are not Christians and are not yet saved?
*The Jews established several boundaries because of the differences they had with the Samaritans, but Jesus crossed over that limit and went after the Samaritan woman. Jesus displayed that kind of love that is needed to win the heart of anybody, by offering them what they don’t really deserve. Though, when crossing the boundary and trying to convert a sinner, a Soul-Winner must be careful not to fall short of God’s glory by becoming unequally yoked together with the sinner, No! No!! No!!!*
3. Looking at the woman’s reply, “For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans...”
What should be our response when we come across Sinners who have already condemned themselves with guilt, and would not easily desire a new life?
*We must by all means prove to sinners around us that God can save anybody, irrespective of the colour, tribe, nationality, culture, background and so on. All that is required is to surrender to Jesus Christ and let Him come into their lives and they shall be saved.*
4. In verse 10, Why was Jesus introducing another kind of water instead of allowing the woman to just fetch the water from the well and go away?
*The woman came for the water in the well, but Jesus introduced another, which is the living water. Jesus also made it clear that only He (Jesus) can give the living water. With this, it is clear that apart from the kind of life the woman has been living, there is another better life that only Jesus can give.*
5. Jesus ignored the water in the well and started talking about the living water. What is the actual difference between the water from the well and the living water?
*Jesus emphasized that “whosoever drinketh of this water (from the well) shall thirst again” and later, He also said “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”*
Conclusion...
Brethren, it is so clear that except we offer our lives to Jesus Christ and let Him transform and equip us, nothing in this world can truly satisfy us. Nothing in this world can offer a real meaning to our lives. If we ignore Jesus and restrict Him from taking over our lives, we would just be hovering around a circle without really succeeding and living a fulfilled life. We will keep thirsting again and again and looking for more water all the time.
May God grant us the grace to surrender totally to Jesus Christ and make Him the Lord and Saviour of our lives and equally strengthen us to witness to others and bring them to the Saviour, Amen!
PRAYER SESSION:
1. Thank God for such a wonderful lesson that He has taught us, appreciate Him for all that you have learnt today
2. Pray for the grace to Surrender completely to Jesus Christ, your life and all that matters to you
3. Just like Jesus, pray that God should empower you to always preach the gospel all the time, that you will not wait until you are so comfortable before reaching out
4. Pray for God to give you the right words anytime you come before Sinners
5. Pray for the eyes of the sinners to open and see that there are truly two kinds of water and there are two kinds of life.
6. Pray that more Sinners will receive Jesus (the living water) and be saved
7. Pray for other Soul-Winners across the world that God will strengthen them all
8. Thank God for answers and summarize the prayers
