*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*

The Pastor announced during the midweek service that the Governor of their state will be coming to worship in the Church next Sunday and everyone shouted for joy.

A lot of people came around to tidy up the Church on Saturday and some men cleared the bushes around the gate of the place of worship.

A new centre rug for the altar was donated by a family and everywhere was looking great. Another family sponsored the repainting of the whole Church in record time. One man quickly ordered new robe for the Choristers. You won't believe that this was our Church that has been left without help for long.

Many people that don't normally come early and those that are not coming regularly were the first to get to the Church that morning, well dressed. Even, those who vowed never to enter Church broke their vow just to see the governor.

The service started and many were not even closing their eyes during prayers to see how the Governor's entourage will enter in grand style.

From the Opening Prayers, Praise Worship to the time of Message, one could see how people were expectant but the Pastor wasn't moved, he just continued with the service unaffected.

Towards the end of the sermon, he asked them that, *"If the Governor enters now, how many of you will have the opportunity to even shake hands with him or how many people can he help?"*

There was great silence in the auditorium. He added, *"You believed me when I told you about his coming”* and everyone adjusted immediately. *"But you never did anything about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ which we've been preaching to you for long."*

*"How sweet will it be, if everyone of us had been preparing to meet our Saviour this way and even render service to God like this?"*

He said, *"Eternal life can't be compared with just a temporary visit of any man who will be removed from office in the next few years."*

*"God is the Most Excellent King and every mortal man called Excellency can't excel on the last d

1. *MAKE LEARNING YOUR PASSION*

Management expert Philip B. Crosby noted:

There is a theory of human behavior that says people subconsciously re**rd their own intellectual growth.

They come to rely on clichés and habits.

Once they reach the age of their own personal comfort with the world, they stop learning and their mind runs on idle for the rest of their days.

They may progress organizationally, they may be ambitious and eager, and they may even work night and day.

But they learn no more.

That’s sometimes the problem with people who received the positions they dreamed of or reached the goals they set for their organizations or earned the degrees they strived for.

In their minds, they have reached their destinations. They get comfortable.

If you desire to keep growing, you cannot sit back in a comfort zone.

You need to make learning your goal. Do that and you will never run out of gas mentally, and your motivation will be strong.

And don’t worry about having people to teach you. Greek philosopher Plato said,

“When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear

*PRINCIPLES* *FOR* *SELF-*IMPROVEMENT*

Making the change from being an occasional learner to becoming someone dedicated to personal growth goes against the grain of the way most people live.

If you asked one hundred people how many books they have read on their own since leaving school (college or high school), I bet only a handful would say they have read more than one or two books.

If you asked how many listen to audio lessons and voluntarily attend conferences and seminars to grow personally, there would be even fewer.

Most people celebrate when they receive their diplomas or degrees and say to themselves, “Thank goodness that’s over.

Just let me have a good job. I’m finished with studying, But such thinking doesn’t take you any higher than average.

If you want to be successful, you have to keep growing. As someone who has dedicated his life to personal growth and development, I’d like to help you make the leap to becoming a dedicated self-developer.

It’s the way you need to go if you want to reach your potential.

Besides that, it also has another benefit: it brings contentment.

The happiest people I know are growing every day.

Take a look at the following eight principles.

They’ll help you develop into a person dedicated to personal growth:

1. *CHOOSE* *A* *LIFE* *OF* *GROWTH*

It’s said that when Spanish *composer-cellist* *Pablo* *Casals* was in the final years of his life, a young reporter asked him, “Mr. Casals, you are ninety-five years old and the greatest cellist that ever lived. Why do you still practice six hours a day?” What was Casals’s answer? “Because I think I’m making progress.”
That’s the kind of dedication to continual growth that you should have.

The people who reach their potential, no matter what their profession or background, think in terms of improvement.

If you think you can “hold your ground” and still make the success journey, you are mistaken.

You need to have an attitude like that of General George Patt
