HURRAY! THE BB IS 135 YEARS OLD!
Dear Steadfast Fellows, it's another Thursday, 4th of October, a day the Boys' Brigade movement started in Glasgow Scotland, in the year 1883.
It is on record that the BB was founded to solve the problems of society as it concerns the Boy-Child. The focus has remained to catch Him for Christ, hence, safeguarding the future and leading him to eternal crown of glory.
Every 4th October reminds me of the proactive nature of our founder, William Alexander Smith, who identified a societal anomaly and championed the cause for a change we are beneficiaries. I feel further inspired to solemnly ponder on the counter cultures that still confronts us today as a people, and my genuine contributions devioid of personal aggrandisement to better the lots of the younger generation and many who desire my mentorship.
We have personally chosen our path, to work, live and die for that which means a lot to us (Character Training, Decision for Christ and Church Membership). Each time we hear and perceive errors in society, we feel pained and double-up in order to offer leadership, training and witness the good path of life to our young lads (evil does not pay).
On this auspicious day, every member of the BB must reflect on ways to build on the foundation of Christ and William Smith. We are indeed privileged to be among the few that have first seen the light, we must work to ignite others, while we remain inextinguishable.
The Rivers State Council under the leadership of Prof. Blessing Chimezie Didia as State President, and Ebim Chukwudi as State Secretary-Organizer is very committed to the progress and prosperity of the BB. We are pretty much aware that prior our emergence the Rivers State Council is a pacesetter in BB Nigeria and beyond, hence, we have remained resolute to maintaining the glorious image of our dear State Council as we continue the search for the Boy, wherever-he-may-be. We therefore enjoin all Steadfast Fellows and Anchor Bearers to sign up for a more prosperous BB Rivers.
We seize this opportunity to call on the government and her agencies to support the BB in her evangelism to win the Boy-Child. A little support today, can save the government 65,000 as amnesty, and curb our society from ills. We must think!
As we remain committed to keep the vision alive, we, for the umpteenth time celebrate the wisdom and inspiration behind the formation of the Boys' Brigade, and wish Every member both past and present, a Happy Founding Day.
Long live the Boys' Brigade!
Chukwudi Ebim, Capt., ANTO
