THE POWER OF SACRIFICE

“And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:23-24 KJV

Beloved, it is very important that you pay close attention to what you listen to as it can either establish or misdirect you. When the chips are down, it is what you have inside that would sustain you. Be careful about the things you listen to because as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Be very careful where you go and be mindful of who speaks into your life.

In our text, you will see that Jesus was speaking concerning His impending death on the cross, yet He referred to it as an hour that the Son of man should be glorified. Jesus knew He was going to die on the cross. For Him, it was not a grieving moment but a moment of glory. He also said that much fruit can only be produced by a corn of wheat when it falls to the ground and dies. In other words, there are certain dimensions of glory and fruitfulness that you cannot function in if you do not embrace sacrifice.

Jesus was saying that it looks like you are a loser when you are living a life of sacrifice. In the eyes of the world, you are a loser but that is when you are really a winner. If the princes of this world had "...known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory" (1Corinthians 2:8 KJV). As far as they were concerned, when they crucified Him, they thought that was the end to God’s agenda for humanity. They were so excited about it, to the point that they even had to secure the tomb. For them, it was the end but, that was the beginning.

It doesn't matter how low you have gone; that is not your last. That is the beginning! Your story will not end in disgrace!Further reading: John12:23-26, Roman 12:1

THE LORD IS GOOD

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” Psalms 100:5 (KJV)

The Lord is good! It is not you that is good but the Lord. And His mercy endures to all generations. According to Psalm 104:28: "That thou givest them they gather, thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good" (KJV). God's Hands are filled with good, not bad. Psalm 107:31 declares: "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.” For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness" (Psalm 107:9 KJV). Psalm 119:68 says: "Thou art good, and doest good…."

The Lord does good every day because that is who He is! You cannot separate Him from being good. When Christ came on the scene, God anointed Him with the Holy Ghost and power and He went about doing good: casting out devils, feeding the multitude, cleansing the lepers, opening blind eyes and raising the dead.

One of the things that the elect must look out for in these last days is deception! According to the scriptures, if care is not taken, the elect will be deceived. Jesus said: "For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" (Matthew 24:24 KJV). We are not just talking about deception in terms of the way we know it. If the devil comes to your house and tells you: "I am the devil”, you will at least guard yourself. But he won't. He would rather sneak in with a little truth, and before you know it, you are distracted. You still think that you are in the way, but he has got you in his grips. May that never be your portion!

It is very important that we understand this truth so that we will not be victims of the wiles of the devil. The more we are grounded in the truth, the stronger our faith will be. God is good! He has no evil to offer anyone!Further reading: Psalm 100:1-5, 107:1-43
