WHEN THE SPIRIT OF PRAYER TAKES OVER
Few years back, I was in a church where I was leading a prayer session. As we prayed, I noticed that some of the people were becoming too casual about the things of God, while others had become spiritually proud and overly familiar with the presence of God.
As I pressed deeper in prayer, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully. The Spirit went straight to a boy who was there, and suddenly, the boy broke out in tongues.
About thirty minutes later, the Holy Spirit instructed me, “Bring him up to the altar. Place your prayer shawl on him, and he will prophesy.”
I did exactly as I was instructed.
When the boy came to the altar and the prayer shawl was placed on him, he began to speak prophetically. As the utterance was interpreted, the boy called out names and identified specific problems. I began to declare over those situations according to what the Spirit was revealing.
Then something shifted in the atmosphere.
The entire church broke into fire. The people began to pray intentionally and intensely. What had started with casualness and spiritual pride was transformed into a powerful atmosphere of prayer.
The Spirit of prayer is a compelling Spirit. When you find yourself in His atmosphere, you cannot remain casual.
Yet spiritual pride and overfamiliarity with our Maker have caused many people to miss the power and move of the Holy Spirit.
Never think that God will move simply because of your size, title, position, experience, or reputation.
If you think God must move because of your position, He can raise a Samuel and put you to shame.
God is looking for hearts that are yielded, humble, hungry, and sensitive to His Spirit.
This is a call to prayer.
