Jesus Hungry But Disappointed? - Mark 11 : 12 - 22
We saw Jesus being hungry and therefore needed something to eat to quench His hunger. In a quest to satisfy the hunger, He saw a fig tree afar off and had expected that he would find fruits to eat from the tree. More so, the Tree had green leaves and looked very flourishing. The look of the tree gave Jesus and everyone around the impression that the tree would have fruits from which anyone could eat from. Again, though it was not time and normal season for fig trees to produce fruits, this particular fig tree was given special grace by God to remain fresh and healthy evident in the fact that it had fresh leaves and flourished and had the ability to produce fruits when other fig trees had withered out and dried out because it was not their season of fruition.
No wonder Jesus was disappointed at the Fig tree when He could not find fruits to eat to satisfy His hunger. The Tree only had leaves, looked flourished but had no fruits. The tree only made a show but could not affect lives or fulfill its purpose despite the abundance grace it had.
He therefore cursed the tree.
In our world today, so it is that despite the economic crunch, austerity, difficult times and scarcity of resources, God has given us the grace to be able to make progress, prosperous, wealthy and fruitful. God has given some of us grace to affect humanity. The Big question Today is
HOW MUCH HAVE WE BEEN ABLE TO AFFECT HUMANITY, OUR FAMILIES AND EVEN OUR CHURCHES POSITIVELY?
Read Mathew 7 : 16 - 20.
As Children of God, what fruits are we bearing today? The master is still hungry and if he comes our way, will he find fruits to quench his hunger? If you refuse to bear fruits, you will b cut off from Jesus - John 15 : 1-6
we understand that when a tree refuses to bear fruits, it is cursed and cut down because it is of no value.
Are you out as a Christian just to make a show in Church and in your world or you are genuinely bearing fruits for the Lord? Are you affecting lives positively and making impact in your world.
Jesus is asking Can I find fruits in you when I come?
The fruits of the spirit - Joy, love, peace, longsuffering, are some of the fruits we are expected to bear.
Will Jesus Find fruits in you Today?
May God help us to end well and not like the cursed fig tree.
Amen
