TOPIC : THE GOD PRESCRIBED FAST

TEXT : ISAIAH 58:1-14

MEM. VS : ISAIAH 58:6-7

Isaiah 58:6-7
"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?"

God's prescription for an acceptable fast is very clearly stated this chapter . A careful look at it shows it's beyond just a few separated days, it's a life style, it's a pattern of living , it's beyond not eating nor drinking, rather the emphasis is actually on the aim and the purpose you intend to achieve with the fast.

Therefore, always understand that the fast is beyond staying away from food but more on what you intend to achieve, your driving force , indeed God searches the intent of the heart.

According to verse 6 and 7 of our passage good fast must include the following:

1. To loose the bands of wickedness.
2. To undo the heavy burdens.
3. To let the oppressed go free.
4. To break every yoke.
5. To deal thy bread to the hungry.
6. To bring the poor that are cast out to thy house.
7. To cover the naked.

This is what makes up an acceptable fast to the Lord.
Jesus corroborated this when He released His statement of purpose after a forty day fast in the book of Luke 4:18-19

Luke 4:18-19
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord".

This is the purpose of fasting, and as you wait on God in this season, yokes shall be broken, burdens shall be lifted, bread to the hungry and clothes to the naked.

This is the purpose God raises men to become a blessing on earth , to fulfill eternal purpose and glorify Jesus.
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE.

Beloved , if your purpose ain't here, am sorry you are a hirelings, you have not aligned with the purpose of God genuinely and sincerely.

PRAYER : I receive Grace to tarry in fastings with prayers as I align with heaven's agenda over my life in Jesus mighty name Amen.
