SOMETIMES, PURPOSE IS DISCOVERED THROUGH OBEDIENCE.
When I woke up this morning, the Lord reminded me of an encounter I had a few years back and I felt the need to share it.
Some time ago in Nigeria, my pastor, Pst. OLUMIDE Olajide Anthony and I were led to visit a brother in our church who had just undergone surgery in the hospital
"I was sick and you visited me"- Matthew 25:36.
As we approached the entrance of the medical facility, we noticed a distressed couple carrying a baby. They had just been referred to the UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT TEACHING HOSPITAL(UPTH).The parents looked confused and deeply worried -the baby's condition was unstable. It was already late into the night, and UPTH was quite a distance away.
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair."- 2 Corinthians 4:8
Without hesitation, my pastor gave up his car- a LEXUS 460- and instructed his driver to rush the family and the baby to UPTH immediately.
"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due , when it is in your power to act."- Proverbs 3:27
After visiting the brother who had undergone surgery, my pastor and I trekked back to the church, a journey that covered quite a long distance.
"So let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."- Galatians 6:9.
By God's grace, the baby's life was saved, and the faith of the couple was strengthened.
For my Pastor and me , the joy we felt was overwhelming. We were grateful to have been used as vessels of God.
" But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all- surpassing power is from God and not from us."- 2 Corinthians 4:7
It later became clear to us that the real reason God sent us to the hospital that night was not only to visit the brother, but to be timely help to that couple and their child.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him."-Romans 8:28
Ironically, after all the medical expenses were paid and the brother recovered, he stopped coming to church.
Where He leads, we follow!
