NO SAFETY OF LIFE OUTSIDE GOD’S WORD
“Men, you should have listened to my advice…then you would have spared yourselves of this damage and loss.” (Acts 27:21b)
There are people who think it’s a weakness or foolishness when you follow God’s leading or direction in times of decision making. But unknown to them, what actually is foolishness is when a man downplays or rejects the counsel of God, and follows the wisdom of his heart that indeed is foolishness.
Our opening verse above teaches about the importance of taking the counsel of God more seriously; the benefits of obeying God’s word, and the consequences of rejecting it. You see, the Word of God is the wisdom of God. It’s God’s perfect plan and purpose for your life; it’s your destiny. Whoever that believes in it can never be disappointed; whoever that walks in it can never stumble, and whoever that follows it leading, can never lose his way. An unknown author says, “Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy…It’s the traveler’s map, the pilot’s compass…”
If you’re in dire need of wisdom, don’t go anywhere any longer. Fall back to your Bible and read it like never before, and you would be amazed at what it will turn you to. It’s your school of wisdom. In it you will find safety rules that will lead you safely to a higher life. Proverbs 24:5 says, “For by wise counsel thou shall make thy war, and in the multitude of counselors, there is safety.” The counsel of God is what you need to face today’s challenges, and come out with your head high up. And fortunately, the Bible abounds with counsels that will help make wise or best decisions in life.
In Proverbs 3:5 it says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not in your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.” When you walk in the wisdom of your heart, you’re bound to count your mistakes, and name them one by one, even mistakes that are capable of taking one’s very life. But on the other hand, when you take decision based on the Word of God, you will save yourself of needless damages, pains and unending suffering.
Jesus said in John 8:12 “I am the Light of the world: he who followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Jesus is the embodiment of divine information, knowledge, and understanding. So anyone who follows Him closely, will not be in the dark about anything or live in uncertainty about the future, but will see things clearly the way they really are; you will have divine insight about the realities of life, and take decisions based on that light.
Imagine taking a night journey on a highway without a headlight. It’s certain you’re going to crash and/or searching for something in darkness. You’re sure will bump into things, damage some items, and make a mess of the whole place, so is the life of everyone who has not given his or her life to Christ. It’s full of damages, losses, and pains. It will eventually end in tragedy. Say aloud this prayer below.
Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You as I am. I believe You Are the Son of the Living God. I believe with all of my heart that You died for me, and was raised from the dead. I repent from my sinful ways and confess with my mouth that You Are the Lord of my life and Saviour. I receive You into my heart today. Come and make it Your dwelling place. Thank You for saving me. Amen!
