OUR HISTORY

The local assembly known originally as Royal Evangel Church began in Port-Harcourt Nigeria about 25 years Ago (July 1990), a week after Pastor Charles arrived in Port Harcourt having left his previous appointment in Northern Nigeria. He arrived in Port Harcourt with about ₦250 (approximately $1.25 US, as at 2015) with no idea where he would sleep that night. He had not previously lived in Port Harcourt. From that day, the story has been one of God's miraculous direction, provision and increase. The Local Church comprises of:
• The Carpenter's Church [The Adult Church]
• The Carpenter's Teen Church [TC2]
• The Carpenter's Cubs [Children's Church]

NAME CHANGE

In 2001, Pastor Charles Omofomah, then the Presiding Pastor, changed the name of the church from Royal Evangel Church, to The Carpenter's Church. Since then we have been known by that name. Someone may wonder why the name: “The Carpenter's Church.”

The inspiration of the name comes from the verse Pastor Charles read from, the day he announced the change to the congregation: “Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” (Mark 6:3). When Jesus was on this earth, He was called “The Carpenter” as He was engaged in carpentry work before His ministry. This is still His spiritual title today, since His present day ministry through the church is all about designing, making, mending and restoring men's lives, just like a carpenter would. He does this through His Word and power. We make bold to say that this local assembly — The Carpenter's Church, is named after Him. Our church like a carpenter's workshop is one place where He carries out His work of making and mending men's lives. THE PRESIDING PASTOR OF THE CARPENTER'S CHURCH

Pastor Nkechi Ene is a full time minister of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. She served as the Associate Pastor to Pastor Charles Omofomah until he went home in glory on the 27th of February 2013. She now serves as Presiding Pastor of The Carpenter's Church. She was born in Accra, Ghana and spent most of her early years in Lagos, Western Nigeria. She is a graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a First Class Honours Degree in Electronics Engineering. Pastor Kech [as she is fondly called] is a woman of God who pursues a passion for excellence in the things of God with transparency and tireless dedication. Truly a "mother in Israel" her love for God's people is at the center of her heartbeat to see them move from one level of glory to the next as they apply the same principles she lives by which she learnt under Pastor Charles and now teaches to millions on Freshdew. Pastor Nkechi (nee Chijioke) is anointed to dynamically teach the Word of God with grace expressed in clarity and charisma. She is married to Emeka Ene, an Engineering Executive and they are blessed with two daughters, Zoe and Chloe and also with adopted daughters, Tracy and Osi.

All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, But the Word of the Lord endures forever.

A herald is an announcer, a messenger who brings news.
◼️ Evangelism, a mission of the church.
We must be excited about the things of God. One of the signs of being spirit-filled is the excitement to do the things of God. [Romans 1:13-15].
Any church that does not focus on Evangelism does not understand its calling. Similarly, any believer who does not preach the gospel, does not understand his calling. As a believer, whatever you do in life, sharing the gospel/Christ must be paramount.
The primary rule of the Church is to disciple saints.
◾️Reasons for preaching the Gospel:
▪️The heart of God beats for it.
God, who is love, demonstrated His love in His full capacity in giving us Jesus. The gospel announces to people that God loves them.
God’s love has done something about man’s state. God did not save man by any outside force; He was impelled by His love to save man. God’s love is greater than all our sins. Not only does God’s heart beat for you, your heart must also beat for the gospel.

◾️The finished work of Christ expects evangelism.
Evangelism is the necessary sequel or follow-up of the finished work of Christ. Preaching the gospel is announcing the finished work of Christ. Christ has finished the work for man’s salvation.

▪️The finished work of Christ announces that sin is no longer a problem. Redemption is the act of God paying the price for our freedom. Jesus came to resolve sin.
▪️The finished work of Christ announces that the war between man and God has been resolved. God cannot be angry with man even though your actions doesn’t please Him.
▪️Believing is the response to the finished works of Christ. The sinner believes the message, speaks it and they are saved. To believe, people must hear a preacher. The good news must be told or shared.
[Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:14-20, Ephesians 1:7, Romans 4:23-25, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 9:25, Ephesians 6:15, Romans 10:6-17, 2 Corinthians 4:4]
