💍THE OTHER SIDE OF MARRIAGE THEY DON'T SHOW YOU ❤️
On social media, we see beautiful pictures and videos of couples loving up on each other and doing public displays of affection, a.k.a PDA. 😘👫 👨❤️👨
Behind your keyboard, you are smiling ☺️, blushing 😍, awning 🥰 and "God whennig" 😩
You can't wait to get married to start doing your own.
Little did you know that, there is another side of marriage they don't show you, the BTS(behind the scenes) of their marriage.
Behind the lovey-dovey pictures and videos of couples you see online, there is a behind-the-scenes they don't show you.
Most of the pictures and videos you see, they're celebrating their victories and results behind the scenes.
What I want to show you in this post is the other side of marriage you don't get to see.
I have a couple living in my compound who have been married for years now and yet they don't have a child.
Since I have been living here, I have never for once seen them quarrel or fight. They have been living as peacefully as possible. They inspire me, honestly.
They are a typical example of what a marriage is about. Most of what we have today are men and women who are in for business, for what to gain.
What are the other side of marriage they don't show you?
👉 Commitment
The couple I talked about are committed to each other despite their childlessness.
I have never heard the wife accuse the husband of cheating or having another woman somewhere bearing children for him.
Despite their challenges, they stick to each other.
Marriage is a long-term and lifetime commitment. All things being equal, it's supposed to be till death ☠️ not “till infertility” or “till life gets hard.”
👉 Long-suffering
This is another side of marriage you don't get to see. At a meeting last Sunday, a woman shared how she’s been nursing her sick husband 🤒.
No Instagram filter can capture that kind of love. Behind every cute photo, someone’s enduring sleepless nights, financial stress, or grief.
Many lovey-dovey pictures and videos you see online don't show you what some of them have to endure.
You that didn't come to this life to suffer, when life happens(trust me, it will), you go fit chest am? 🤷
👉 Tolerance
Most of the videos and pictures of couples we see online don't show us the things they tolerate.
During the Suspect Challenge, Veekee James tells her husband how he doesn't flush the toilet after using it.
If she hadn't said that, none of us would have known what she's tolerating in her marriage. She's just one example out of many.
Behind those cute pictures and videos is a loooooot of tolerance.
You that don't take nonsense, how you go do? 🤷
👉 Forgiveness
These days many are quick to throw away their marriages because of offense.
It was Pastor Mildred Okonkwo who said, "You will chop offense like breakfast in marriage."
What it means is that your partner will offend you countless times and you have to forgive.
Someone rightly said that marriage is two forgiveness living together.
You who can carry grudges and remember the offense someone did to you 30 years ago, how will you cope? 🤷
👉 Support and encouragement
Last Sunday in church a man testified about how he got promoted at work. During the testimony, he gave a shout-out to his wife, how she gave him "peace of mind" when he was reading for the exam for the promotion.
You that's always looking out for what to gain, survival mentality, aka gum, how will you do it?
The message I'm trying to pass across to you is that you not be carried away by the beautiful videos and pictures of couples you see online
Marriage is beyond kissing, cuddling, carrying, hugging, holding hands, etc.
Consider these questions...
👉 Can you commit to your partner for a lifetime?
👉 Can you endure hard times with your partner?
👉 Are you tolerant?
👉 Can you forgive?
👉 Are you supportive?
Think about it.
I hope this helps you to have a correct perspective about marriage.
