INSPIRATION TODAY With Apostle Izu Ulu

TAKE YOUR ISSUE TO JESUS.

“A woman having an issue…touched the border of his garment.” Lk 8:43-44

The Bible says: “A woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, ‘Who touched me?’ When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, ‘Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, “Who touched me?”’ And Jesus said, ‘Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue [healing power] is gone out of me’…And he said unto her, ‘Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole’” (vv. 43-48). This woman had an “issue” that was draining the life out of her, one no doctor could cure. So she did what you need to do—she took her issue to Jesus, touched Him by faith, and was made whole. Think about what she had to overcome. Twelve years of suffering. A sense of hopelessness and despair because she’d “spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any.” Then there was the crowd that thronged Jesus and stood in her way. Nevertheless, the moment her faith made contact with Jesus, she was made whole. So what’s your biggest issue today? Is it a long-term one? Is it at home or on the job? Is it a health issue or a stubborn habit? Don’t stop until you get to Jesus, even if that means getting down on your knees in prayer and pushing through every obstacle that stands in your way. Touch Jesus by faith today, and you too can be made whole.

FRIENDS OF LIGHT - John 3:18-21

We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contacts with God, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out.

Sometimes we don’t want to know God’s will because there are areas in our life that we aren’t ready to deal with yet. Recovery is a process for us. We may be ready to pray for God’s will in some areas but feel uncomfortable having God’s light shine into the areas that are still hidden in shame.

When talking about those who refuse to trust him with their life, Jesus said, “God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. . . . [They] refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.” (John 3:19-20). Later, in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12).

Darkness is great when we are trying to hide something, but light is needed when we are trying to walk without falling. When we were hiding our shameful behavior and holding on to our addiction, the darkness seemed like our friend. Now that we are trying to walk toward recovery, we need the light to keep us from stumbling. We don’t have to be afraid of God’s light anymore since we have his forgiveness through Christ. He wants to safely guide us on the right path.

MBM Nat Co-ordinator, Rev. James Udo Kalu who is also a Bible school teacher participated in Association for Pentecostal Theological Education in Africa (APTEA) Teacher’s Training Workshop held in July 1-5, 2013 at Conference Hall, Evangel House Enugu Nigeria.
The Seminar had Dr. Murriell McCulley as guest speaker. It is hoped that when theology is integrated with technology in Africa, the performance will be greatly achieved.
