Po*******hy or p**n as is commonly referred to is now so common a word in our today’s world (though not new) that it does require much of a definition. However, it's imperative that its real meaning be expose to give credence to the monster we want to deal with.
It's rooted in a Greek compound word – p**neia meaning Pr******te and graphein meaning Write (where our English word graphic comes from). Simply put in lay-man’s words, PO*******HY therefore is “Depicting – either by audio, drawings, pictures, paintings, videos or sculptures, etc of naked prostitutes” who are paid for their s*xual exploits.
Po*******hy is one of satan's effort in distorting God's ordained purpose for s*xual relationship design solely for consumption within the marriage institution - by pushing sensual and s*xually explicit contents/objects into the minds of people thereby arousing lusts which advertently leads to shameful s*xual perversions.
God has in diverse times and places spoke (as is still speaking) explicitly against s*xual immortality in all its ramifications - warning “donot be deceived: neither the s*xually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homos*xuality shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9).
Jesus Christ in our today's text warned against LUST equating same with committing actual adultery (Matthew 5:27). 1 John 2:16-17 added “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. Here and many other scriptures admonished all persons against LUST. King David of all people, gave us a vivid example of the effects and consequences of lust. (2 Sam. 11)
Po*******hy is a deadly sin and must be avoided at all cost. Po*******hy causes users to lust after the flesh, and it is undeniably a lust of the eyes. Viewing p**nography is a s*xual sin, but at its root it is a heart problem. Not only is it a gratification of lust, but it also reveals a desire for validation outside of God. Viewing p**n distorts one's view of self, offers counterfeit satisfaction, misrepresents the value of the opposite s*x, and perverts God’s good gift of s*x. The negative impact p**nography has on spiritual purity, the brain, mental health, view of the opposite s*x, emotional health, and the marriage relationship reveals the true nature of p**nography. Consequently, Gods children must therefore stay out of it completely. After all, God alone can ultimately meet the desire to be fulfilled and validated, and only He can truly satisfy one's longings and desires.
Po*******hy is addictive, and we are seriously admonished not to be mastered by anything (1 Cor. 6:12; 2 Pet. 2:19). Lusting in the mind, which is the essence of p**nography, is offensive to God (Matt. 5:28) and dangerously destructive (see Prov. 6:25–28; Eph. 4:19).
Good news: One can get off the hook and strongholds of p**nography. Just do these:
Confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9);
Ask God to cleanse, renew, and transform your mind (Rom. 12:2);
Ask God to fill your mind with things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Phil. 4:8)
Ask God to fill the void in your heart you are trying to fill with p**nography;
Learn to possess your body in holiness (1 Thes 4:3–4).
Understand the proper meaning of s*x and rely on your spouse alone to meet that need (1 Cor. 7:1–5).
Realize that, if you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gal. 5:16).
Take practical steps to reduce your exposure to p**nographic images.
Install p**nography blockers on your computer, avoid/turn off explicit materials web sites on your phone.
Constantly pray and study the Bible
Allign with another Christian who will pray for you and help keep you accountable.
