6. So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
7. The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
8. Then the second angel sounded: And [something] like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.
9. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10. Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
11. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.
12. Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.
13. And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!"

*THE MESSAGE:*

The sounding of the seventh trumpet ushered in the judgment of God-out-pouring of the bowls of God's wrath! The Trumpet blasts have three purposes
(1) to warn that the judgment of God is certain (2) to call for forces of good and evil to battle and
(3) to announce the return of the King - the Messiah. These warnings urge us to make sure that our faith is firmly fixed in Christ.

A warning was given that the next three trumpets would be more severe and devastating than those which preceded them. The triple woes announced by an eagle warned of coming judgment. Habakkuk used the image of an eagle to symbolise swiftness and destruction (Habakkuk 1:8).

The picture here also is of an eagle flying over all the earth, warning of the terrors yet to come. Both believers and unbelievers will experience the terrors described in verses 7-13, but only unbelievers will meet their spiritual doom
when the next three trumpets of God's wrath will be sounded. God has, however, guaranteed believers protection from spiritual harm (Revelation 7:2-3).

The judgment is upon every action of man but those who have faith and believe in Christ Jesus will receive mercy and protection. Where do you stand?

*PRAYER:* Oh Lord please deliver me from the coming doom!

READ: JOHN 21:15-25 (NKJV)

15. So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, [son] of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."
16. He said to him again a second time, "Simon, [son] of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."
17. He said to him the third time, "Simon, [son] of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
18. "Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry [you] where you do not wish."
19. This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
20. Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"
21. Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what [about] this man?"
22. Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what [is that] to you? You follow Me."
23. Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what [is that] to you?"
24. This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
25. And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

*THE MESSAGE:*

Today's bible portion is a wake-up call for Christians, especially Ministers of God. We are distracted by a lot of things - money and the pursuit of worldly pleasure, education, career advancement, etc. These are distracting us from the main purpose for which God created us - to believe in Him through Jesus Christ and to serve Him by advancing His Kingdom.

Jesus called Peter to be a "fisher of Men" (Mark 1:17). But here we see Peter going back to his fishing profession. He had earlier expressed his love for Christ, saying that even if others denied Him, he would not (Mark 14:29).

Jesus is reminding us once again to concentrate on our Ministry - feed His lamb (new believers) and His sheep (mature believers), to take up our cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24). Are you a lamb? Have you received Christ? He cares for you as The Good Shepherd. Are you taking care of the people of God under your care? Or are you seeking your own good? Return to your first love!

*PRAYER:* Lond Jesus, please give me grace to feed Your lamb and sheep. Strengthen my love for You. Amen.

READ: MATTHEW 22:34-46 (NKJV)

34. But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
35. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked [Him a question,] testing Him, and saying,
36. "Teacher, which [is] the great commandment in the law?"
37. Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
38. "This is [the] first and great commandment.
39. "And [the] second [is] like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
40. "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
41. While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42. saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "[The Son] of David."
43. He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying:
44. 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool" '?
45. "If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his Son?"
46. And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

*THE MESSAGE:*

Here we see Jesus asking the Pharisees the above question, and the answer to this question is critical to everybody as it is of eternal significance.

People have different ideas and knowledge of who Christ is. Some think of Him as a great teacher, some as a great prophet, and others as a mere human being who intluenced the life of people. But what do you as a person think of Christ? The Pharisees said that the Christ is the Son of David according to His human descent However, David in the Spirit called Him Lord (Psalm 110:1),l. On account of His divine nature, He is David's Son because He became man through Mary, a descendant of David (Luke 1:34-35; 3:23-381

This presents the truth of His incarnation - God became Man to save us. Christ means the anointed one, Jesus means Saviour, for He shall save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Are you saved? Jesus Christ is the Saviour - receive Him today! The passage drew the attention of the Pharisees to the first and greatest commandment which is love. And if you see Jesus as Saviour, then you must love God and your neighbour. Do you express this love?

*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus, save me today, and help me to express Your love.
