"And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church (Ecclesia), which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way". (Ephesians 1:22-23 NIV)

The Ecclesia of Christ is and would remain the most powerful creation in human history. We gloss over this text to our own detriment. The Lord had no business on the earth except to purchase a people from the darkness of this world, in accordance to the plan that God had, even before the world began. This plan includes bringing all creation under The Christ on the account of The Ecclesia. Inevitably, all things are under the dominion of the Ecclesia, having submitted to the headship of Jesus Christ whose body she has become.

"For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority". (Colossians 2:9-10)

Sense and reason cannot comprehend this, yet it is unassailable. Do you want to know the truth? You are amazingly powerful! Religion has robbed, pillaged, spoiled and incapacitated us as unit members of this divine creation and together as a body, by blurring the wonderful person of our king and head, while promoting men and Satan. The body is as weak or as strong as its head. The fullness of God dwells in our head, Jesus Christ! How comforting, brothers and sisters.

"For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church". (Ephesians 5:23)

The word rendered "Saviour" is the Greek noun "soter" derived from the verb "sozo" which means heal, restore to health, deliverance, rescued and transported to safety.

When the first to conquer death (the first born from death- Col 1:18; the one whose stripe means healing- 1 Peter 2:24; who took former captives along in his train having rescued them- Ephesians 4:8; whose soul was an offering for our sins- Isaiah 53:10) is our healer, rescuer, deliverer, restorer to health and success, there is therefore absolutely no place for fear and trepidation.

Now we appreciate apostle Paul's rallying cry in Romans 8:37: "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us."

Are you facing any of "these things"? Become persuaded of the powerful union and the power of your union with Christ. Nothing can overcome you in Christ. Absolutely nothing! The Ecclesia is God's best secret revealed at the right time!

"Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." (2 Timothy 1:9-10)

What can we say to these things? The power of death over us is broken. We function in immortality. Our bodies no longer succumb to agents of mortality at their beck and call, as we consciously let the life of God dominate our hearts and minds through the message of the awesome cross of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!


Father, thank you for your love and grace for me in Christ. I am proud to be part of this all conquering assembly under the headship of Christ. I triumph over all things in Jesus name. Amen.

The Greek word "ecclesia" wrongly translated "Church" in English language, is an assembly of free citizens called out publicly. It is gravely awkward that translators of the original Greek texts into the English language would replace the word "ecclesia" with another word "kuriakos" (meaning belonging to the Lord), which having gone through many etymological transformations, resulted in "Church". As a matter of fact, the word kuriakos is used in only two places in the new testament: 1 Corinthians 11:20 and Revelation 1:10. The sense in which the new testament writers used the word is rather radical. They saw the church as an assembly of people called out from the world government under another king, Christ!

"When they did not find them, they began dragging Jason and some brethren before the city authorities, shouting, "These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too. And Jason has welcomed them, and they all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus." (Acts 17:6,7)

It is obvious that the king who ordered the translation work, was not comfortable with the word "church", as they feared it would lead to the usurpation of his authorities. The replacement of ecclesia with kuriakos is a deliberate malicious calculation to manipulate and control the body of Christ to submission. We are men and women from the world called out under the authority and reign of the king who is head over all human and spiritual authorities.

"And He is the head of the body, the church (Ecclesia); He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have supremacy". (Colossians 1:18)

Hallelujah! Jesus is our head and king. To him alone do we submit. We have no apologies to render. We do not conform to the systems and philosophies of this world. We have no apologies for thinking and acting differently. Did I hear the mob shout " they have turned the world upside down"? That is the Ecclesia of Jesus Christ - Every family, university campus, secondary school, office, business space, political associations, turned upside down and brought under the influence of our king! We are the Ecclesia brothers and sisters and that is how we roll...

"Now at the end of the twenty years during which Solomon built these two houses, the house of the LORD and the royal palace, King Solomon gave twenty towns in the land of Galilee to Hiram king of Tyre, who had supplied him with cedar and cypress logs and gold for his every desire. So Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, and they did not please him. "What are these towns you have given me, my brother?" asked Hiram, and he called them the Land of Cabul, as they are called to this day." (1 Kings 9:10-13)

It appears the ancients had insight into certain relationship principles that made for enduring partnerships; we learnt that king David and king Hiram were loyal friends. Here again, it's already 20 stunning years of enduring relationship between king Solomon and king Hiram from the time of their treaty. Why do we have a rapid collapse of relationships in recent civilizations? Why are genuine long standing relationships exceptions and not the rule? There is textual nuance that must not be neglected, perhaps we might find the answer to our questions...

Inasmuch as king Hiram addressed king Solomon with that very strong word "brother" ("ach" in Aramaic language, which means someone from the same womb; the same word relationship, "ethos" that Abram expressed regarding Lot in Genesis 13:8), he could still disagree and say No to a deal. The forthrightness, openness and candour of opinions could be a significant reason for the success of their relationship. We have been made to believe that the word "no" is negative. "No", is as important as "Yes", and they are complementary and not averse to each other in every healthy-thriving relationship. Saying no to something is automatically saying yes to another thing and vice versa.

For instance, saying no to extra time of work in the office for instance, may be saying yes to more family time, fellowship with other believers or improved health. There must be a balance when it comes to care and candour between partners, in order to preserve a relationship. As much as it is expected that growth should fuse the hearts and minds of partners together in a harmonic rhythm, saying no sometimes could actually translate into fighting for the advancement and success of the relationship.

In a relationship of acceptance, mutual respect and "acceptable" balance of power, saying no should not generate strife and conflicts as seen in the relationship between the two kings. It is very important to be very compassionate and magnanimous when you say no, so as to help your partner proceed and accept it better than the normal. Although there will always be people who will misunderstand no and label you selfish, insensitive and wicked, the fact still remains that healthy relationships must make provisions for the NO word!


Thank you Lord for your love and grace for me in Christ Jesus. Help me to grow in my awareness of life to be wise to know when to say no in Jesus name. Amen.

"King Hiram of Tyre had always been a loyal friend of David. When Hiram learned that David's son Solomon was the new king of Israel, he sent ambassadors to congratulate him. Solomon also sent message to Hiram king of tyre, "...qsend me cedar logs as you did for my father David when he built his palace. Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: "I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding the cedar and cypress timber.
So Hiram gave Solomon as much as he desired of the cedar and cypress timber
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together" (1 Kings 5:1-2,6,8,10-12)

Wisdom taught king Solomon to leverage on the proven friendship and diplomatic relationship of his father, king David, with Hiram the king of Lebanon, instead of seeking fresh new alliances requiring time, shared investments and trust, without a guaranteed success. Relationships are investments, good or bad; right or wrong! In the context picture, we see mutual respect, value placement and a comfortable balance of power.

Life is full of social bullies who seize opportunities to take advantage of the "weak", in order to feed their pathological sense of power and control. This is possible in relationships where a partner does not put anything of value on the table. Although the kingdom of Israel was at the height of its power, Solomon was serene enough to deal cautiously with king Hiram because he indeed needed him. Relevance is never gifted in any relationship, it is EARNED!

"Here for this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I do not seek what is yours" (2 Corinthians 12:14a)

Some will mistake this for pride. Far from it! The apostle only wanted to earn some respect and maintain a healthy balance of power between him and a section of people in the Corinthian church. He knew that although parasites, including human parasites, may be tolerated for a while, are considered "troubling" and unwanted irritants. Power will always unacceptably tilt towards the person that has the least interest in the relationship. Each partner in any relationship should always earn the right of indispensability, even when they do not contribute equally to it.

Read what apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian church:
"But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this to suggest that something be done for me. Indeed, I would rather die than to have anyone make my boast an empty one" (1 Corinthians 9:15).

You were made to be honoured and respected! You must have a voice in all your relationships, yet you don't brawl for it, but earn it. Wherever there is a healthy balance of power, there is always a win win outcome. While king Solomon was supplied with all the logs of cedar and cypress he needed to build the house of God, the king of Lebanon negotiated a great deal of food supplies yearly.

People who do not contribute anything of worth to relationships are void of bargaining chips and will most likely accept without choice, any card dealt to them. Brothers and sisters, let us work to add value to all our God-given relationships.

"Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear" (1 Samuel 16:14 NLT).

The first thing to notice here is that king Saul once had the accompanying presence of the Lord. As long as the presence of the Lord was with king Saul, he was impenetrable as the Lord's presence was a fortress around him. More so, the text says "The Lord sent a tormenting spirit that filled Saul with depression and fear". It is wrong, as it should be rendered "The Lord permitted a tormenting spirit...". This is because a tormenting spirit is inconsistent with the personality and character of the Lord.

"And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well...." (1 Samuel 16:23 KJV).

It was not music from the harp that refreshed king Saul but the flux of God's presence and miraculous power resting on the young harpist communicated through music. It is my sincere opinion that a dear child of God could rise above neurosis or psychosis. However, we are not ignorant of Satan's ploy to occupy the believer with himself and cause him to become self conscious and self dependent, ignoring the wonder-working presence of the Lord. This is the breeding ground of a dangerous "black mood".

"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for the salvation of His presence" (Psalms 42:5).

David questioned his own rationality to accept and suffer depression and confusion. He preached to himself to have a confident expectation of God's goodness. He started acknowledging the Mighty presence of the Lord and its attendant salvation. He told himself that his situation is not hopeless as he prepared to yet praise the Lord. Do not let the hopelessness linger and lead into depression. Join the Psalmist today as he leads you out of confusion and depression.


Father, thank you for your love and wonderful plan for my life. I declare that my situations are not hopeless. I acknowledge your miraculous mighty presence all around me. I shall yet praise you in Jesus name. Amen

"Now I am coming to you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you. I don't want what you have--I want you. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved" (2 Corinthians 12:14a,15).

Although Apostle Paul planted the church in Corinth, his apostleship was always up for heated debates among them, his intentions questioned and viewed with suspicions.

The Apostle shows a deep understanding in complexities of cultivating human relationships as he laboured to win their acceptance and trust with expertise skills. The difference between him and a marketing guru is that he laboured consistently in CARE for them even when his love was rejected, never appreciated and reciprocated. According to the text, he plans to go to the same group a third time.

All meaningful relationships always have a history of shared investment, commitment and trust. These elements must be mutual for a sturdy, deep and thriving relationship; and the longer the investment time, the greater the dividends. Time is needed to make the physical, mental and emotional adjustments to disagreements of the "matters arising" so as to accommodate, prove and convince the other SUBJECTS that they are valued and not OBJECTS to satisfy the desires of another. This period provides the opportunity to leverage on the mental interaction of the partners to develop a unique philosophy of friendship as the suspicions rebate and peter out.

Grand relationships, as illustrated by Apostle Paul, must be seen as investments. Yes! Emotional, mental, spiritual and physical investments that must cause certain pains and draw out sacrifices if it has to amount to something. So many waste and eventually lose God-given vital relationships because they have been wired or allowed their brains to be wired wrongly. When a mind primarily gravitates to personal benefit and gain, all things and men are seen as objects to be exploited; in which case, each relationship potentially ends even before it starts.

The Apostle says, "I want you and not what you have". The irony is if you have him, you have what he has. Feeling does not define what we are trying to thresh out because even feeling could result from the benefit derived from an object.

"Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us. Beginning with the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us-- one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection" (Acts 1:21-22).

For the Apostles, it was not rocket science to choose a replacement for Judas Iscariot. Friendship and relationship was everything. The basic requirements were a long history with Jesus and the team; commitment, friendship and trust. For the shallow and uncommitted, it is so easy to jump ship for a fair weather...
