COMMENTARY
Jesus° Great Commission (Mathew 28: 1 9) calls us to disciple all nations, transcending geography, ethnicity, and language. In Nigeria, where tribal divides persist, the media bridges gaps by sharing the Gospel in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin, making Galatians 3:28 "all are one in Christ" real. Colossians 3:11 reminds us that in Christ, culture fades; He is all and in all. Through sermons, worship, and even WhatsApp messages, we live out Acts 1:8, breaking walls and building His kingdom in unity.
On September 27, 1963, Bavarian missionary Johannes Wilde preached a ten-minute Yoruba Gospel message on ELWA Radio in Jos. Though not a native speaker, his words-especially "ife'" (love) reached 19-year-old Igbo mechanic Matthew Nwankwo in Ibadan. Deeply moved, Matthew traveled to Jos, heard the Gospel in Igbo, believed, and returned to Enugu to start a fellowship that became St. Matthew's Anglican Church-now, 3,000 members strong. His story shows how God used radio to break ethnic and language barriers, igniting a multi-tribal movement. The medium changes: the mission remains.
Today, smartphones and social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok enable anyone to share the Gospel across
languages, villages, cities, and borders without leaving home.
CONTROLLING THOUGHTS
The media empowers every believer to cross cross-cultural barriers and make disciples of all nations.
