Text - Isaiah 61:3

•Thanksgiving is the gathering of feast to celebrate God.

•Thanksgiving is also a show of gratitude in expectation of what you know God will do in your life.

•Every thanksgiving is usually accompanied by giving away a sacrificial offering.

•Thanksgiving is usually a celebration of time and there's no celebration without quality praise - Psalm 147:1-5

WHY DO WE PRAISE?

1). Praise is an expression of reference to God for his awesomeness.

2). It focuses on the efficacy (power and might) of God's word and not on your problem.

3). Praising God is shifting your focus and strength to magnify God and it is not complete until the word of prophecies (inspired utterances) are released in your life - Isaiah 25:1

•Every quality praise creates a response from God - Isaiah 42:8, Ezekiel 12:25

•God is not a man that He should lie, He does what He says - Numbers 23:19

•If you're praising God, praise with expectation - Proverbs 23:18

•Thanksgiving opens doors for your testimonies to be heard.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ENGAGE IN PRAISE

1). Speedy release of your blessings/miracles - Matthew 21:2

2). Supernatural healing - Luke 17:17,19

Thanksgiving inspires your faith for the next level.

3). The wondrous acts of God - Exodus 15:11
He terrorises your enemies and swallows your troubles.

QUALITIES OF ACCEPTABLE PRAISE

1). It must come from your heart - Psalm 111:1

2). It must be done with joy - Psalm 149:2

3). It must be demonstrated - Isaiah 9:7

HOW TO KEEP YOUR HOPE ALIVE WHILE YOU PRAISE GOD

1). Always remember that you are connected to God.

2). Focus on God's word.

3). Remember your past testimonies.

•Faith is a creative force, so when you praise, release your faith to work.

•Our faith in God is a speaking faith

•The strength of your faith is a function of your hope in Christ.

Text: Psalms 127:3-5

•Heritage are the practices handed to us by tradition, and as children we are expected to behave the way our parents do or did.

•But here, we are expected to behave like God.

Some Characters Of God

1). God never lies.

2). God is forgiving.

3).God is love and love is the greatest -1Corinthians 13:13

•Without children, family and its legacy will feel incomplete. For example, Jesus and His father's legacy. Wherever you see Jesus, you see God.

•Children are gifts from God and also weapons in the hands of their parents. They are a source of security and strength to the family - Psalm 127:5

•Couples without children shouldn't worry, because God promises to give gifts of children to every couple - Psalm 127:3

WORD FOR CHILDREN
Ephesians 6:1-3

•As children we must help and obey our parents as this is the first command from God with a promise, which is long life.

•If children show love and respect to their parents, they will live long in peace and happiness.

FOR PARENTS
Ephesians 6:4

•Parents have been instructed by God to avoid provoking their children which may make them angry and may end up causing distancing between the child and the parents.

SOME WAYS PARENTS ABUSE THEIR CHILDREN

1). Use of abusive words. Example, goat, big head, mumu, etc. This can cause low self esteem on the child.

2). Not understanding them when they try to explain certain matters to their parents.

3). Not giving the needed time to the child.

4). Not having family time with parents.

•Despite your busy schedules, it is important to eat and dine with your kids. Kids love being around their parents.

WHAT CHILDREN LOVE FROM THEIR PARENTS

1). They love to be held, hugged, loved, even sleep on same bed most times with their parents, while they tell them bed time stories.

2).They love to play and communicate freely with their parents, but some parents see it as insult.

WHAT PARENTS EXPECT FROM THEIR CHILDREN

•Respect, regard, obedience to instructions, to shine in their endeavors, to be free to make time for them.

Summary by Pastor Hope Konyeha

1). What children want is courtesy. Be courteous to them. Teach them courtesy from the house and they will treat the family and society well too.

2). Don't impose what they didn't do on them, learn to apologise to them when you wrong them and it will in turn reflect in their life

3). For a child, "Love" is spelt "TIME"
It’s the quality time you spend with a child that shows your love for the child.

4). You won't know your child and great gifts they have inside of them until you get close, and if your child cannot confide in you, then you've lost that child.

5). Soon they will leave you to start their own life. If you didn't plant any good seed in them, don't expect any good fruit either.

6). Avoid the African mentality of being a bulldozer in your home.

7). Be a counsellor to them and they will grow up clean, far from drugs and street life.
