WHY JESUS CAME

The coming of Jesus was not accidental, symbolic, or mysterious. Scripture clearly tells us why He came. Jesus came to save humanity from sin. His mission was not to improve man, reform man, or motivate man morally. He came because man needed salvation, and only God could provide it.

Matthew 1:21 states plainly that His name would be called Jesus “for He shall save His people from their sins.” Even His name reveals His purpose. Saviour. John the Baptist confirmed this mission when he declared, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Jesus came as the Lamb, meaning He was born with a redemptive assignment. Sin required a sacrifice, and Jesus became that sacrifice once and for all.

Jesus did not die by accident or circumstance. He was born to die. Hebrews 10:5 reveals that a body was prepared for Him so He could fulfill this purpose. He took on humanity so He could die man’s death on behalf of man. Through His death, sin was confronted, judged, and removed. Redemption was always the goal.

The cross is the clearest proof of God’s love. Romans 5:8 tells us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God did not wait for humanity to change before acting. Jesus Himself said that there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others (John 15:13). The death of Jesus is not theory or symbolism, it is love demonstrated.

Jesus also came to fulfill the will of God, and God’s will has always been salvation, not destruction. Scripture says God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). This willingness is not mere desire; it is proven by action. First Timothy 2:3–6 explains that God desires all men to be saved and that Christ gave Himself as a ransom for all. Salvation is explained by what Jesus did, not by what man does.

Jesus Himself said He came to give His life as a ransom (Matthew 20:28). A ransom is the price paid to set captives free, and Jesus paid with His own life to redeem humanity from sin and death. This is why salvation cannot be earned, it was fully paid for.
John 3:16 summarizes it all: God so loved the world that He gave His Son. God’s love is revealed in giving, not demanding. He loved first, and He gave freely. Salvation is therefore received by faith, not achieved by effort.

Jesus came to save us from sin, to die on our behalf, to demonstrate God’s love, to fulfill God’s will, to give His life as a ransom, and to bring eternal life to all who believe. Salvation is God’s initiative, God’s work, and God’s gift.

HIS PROMISES ARE YEA AND AMEN

2nd Corinthians 1:20 Forall the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The word all implies what is much, great, of value, of weight. It is an adjective used to describe the promises, or commitment God made.

The word, “promises” was translated from a word that implies to announce a pledge or a commitment. The promise is a self-made fulfillment, that is, the maker of the promise (God) will fulfill the promise himself.

The announcement of the great promises of God is embedded in the prophecies in the Old Testament, while the epistles are the explanation of the fulfillment of all of God’s promises in the old testament.

The promises were communicated in the old testament as mysteries.

Ephesians 3:3 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

Jesus stretches the mysteries of the old testament in its communication.

Matthew 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

This was taken from Psalms.

Psalms 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

The phrase dark sayings was translated from a word that implies a riddle.

The first step to mysteries is to know (not to believe). The truth of the promises of God in the old testament is first unlocked by knowledge.

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Vs 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The word, “guide” implies to explain. It is used for information, used also for sight.

Jesus was speaking about revelation.

Jesus did this to his disciples to open their understanding.

Luke 24:27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

The word, “expounded” implies to explain. Jesus explained across the scriptures things concerning himself Vs 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

It was also used for the Eu**ch, who was a lettered man.

Acts 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

The epistles contain the explanations of the mysteries in the Old Testament.

Ephesians 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me
the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

Vs 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Romans 16:26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

The revelation of the Old Testament is by knowledge, now revealed in the epistles.

The Old Testament books (Genesis to Malachi) contain the promises, while the epistles are the evidence of the performance of the promises.

Confession
I have the mind of *Christ in the understanding of the fulfillment of the promises of God in Christ.
