THE DARING DAVID
BIBLE TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:37-50
MEMORY VERSE: "Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied" (1 SAMUEL 17:45).
Theodore Roosevelt said, "Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." It was with such daring spirit coupled with faith in God that David had the guts to approach the Philistine in our text. In the end, he brought down Goliath, the boastful and dreadful giant, because he did not listen to the voice of hopelessness. It is during the daring moments of your life that your decision can re-define you and the people around you, thereby shifting the course of your future and writing a brand new script for your life.
Such opportunities to take that life-changing decision may ignite inner conflict, with a voice beckoning you to come back into the security of your comfort zone, while another gives you courage to push forward. In such a situation, always listen to the voice of wisdom and faith coming from above, instead of yielding to the voice of fear.
QUOTE: He did not listen to the voice of hopelessness.
CHALLENGE: Stay on the path of optimism and faith.
PRAYER: O God, help me to push forward always.
