There was a season in my life when my name was everywhere.
From the North to the East, crusade to crusade, conference to conference, program to program , I was constantly preaching. Invitations kept coming. Crowds were increasing. Testimonies were everywhere. People said, “God is truly using this man.”
And honestly, they were right.
But one day, in the middle of all the movement, while praying alone, the Holy Spirit spoke to me with a voice that pierced my heart:
“You are too busy for Me.”
That sentence broke me.
I wept before God like a child.
Because I suddenly realized something many young ministers do not understand early enough:
It is possible to be successful in ministry and still be empty in fellowship.
I was preaching to crowds, but losing conversations with God.
I was carrying microphone, but neglecting the altar.
I was operating in gift, but slowly disconnecting from His presence.
And ministry without His presence is dangerous.
So I made a painful decision.
I stepped back.
I cancelled invitations.
I reduced movements.
I disappeared from many public programs for years.
Not because I was tired of ministry.
Not because I became proud.
Not because I lost passion for souls.
I was rebuilding my altar.
Many people misunderstood me.
Some ministers became offended because they had already placed my name on flyers.
Some said, “He no longer honors invitations.”
Others whispered, “Success has entered his head.”
But they did not know the secret battle.
I was fighting to recover intimacy with God.
Because I discovered that a man can become famous in public and still become empty in private.
Young minister, hear me carefully:
Do not become so busy for God that you forget God Himself.
Crowds can celebrate you and still leave you spiritually dry.
Platforms can increase while your prayer life dies silently.
Gift can open doors for you, but only His presence can sustain you.
A gifted minister without intimacy with God is like a fast car without brakes — movement is happening, but destruction is near.
Please protect your secret place.
There are dimensions you will never carry publicly if you do not first build them privately.
Before God sends a man to people, He first calls him to Himself.
Do not trade fellowship for visibility.
Do not trade prayer for popularity.
Do not trade the altar for applause.
Take your devotion seriously.
Take your prayer life seriously.
Take your quiet moments with God seriously.
Because what keeps a ministry standing is not title, crowd, connections, or charisma.
It is His presence.
Build your altar before you build your platform.
