*Adventist Student Fellowship Alumni Association Holds Community Service Ahead of Alumni Homecoming Sabbath*
The Adventist Student Fellowship (ASF), University of Port Harcourt Chapter Alumni Association, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, carried out a community service programme as part of activities marking its “Generations United” Alumni Homecoming celebration.
The community service, held at the University of Port Harcourt, particularly within the Abuja Campus, brought together alumni, current members of the fellowship and other participants in a demonstration of service, environmental responsibility and Christian witness.
A key highlight of the programme was the donation of 10 waste bins to the University Management to support proper waste disposal and promote a cleaner campus environment.
The programme also featured a campus-wide sanitation exercise, during which members of the fellowship and alumni cleaned different areas of the Abuja Campus, picking up litter and encouraging environmental responsibility among students and staff.
In addition, members of the Alumni Association engaged in Christian outreach, distributing tracts, flyers and other materials to students and members of the university community, alongside messages promoting positive choices and responsible living.
Commissioning the community service, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill, commended the ASF Alumni Association for the initiative and its positive impact on the university community.
Prof. Princewill urged participants to live the life they preach, stressing the need to align Christian teachings with practical actions. He also described the initiative as worthy of emulation and encouraged other groups to undertake similar programmes that support the university’s development and wellbeing.
