SUNDAY SERMON EXCERPT (Part 1)
Topic: Understanding the End Times.

The subject of the end times is not given merely to satisfy our curiosity about dates, events, or prophetic timelines. It is given to prepare us for the return of Jesus Christ.
The last days began with Christ’s first coming and continue until His second coming. The question, therefore, is not simply whether we are living in the last days, but how are we living in the last days?
Jesus spoke about the signs that would characterize the period leading to the end—false Christs and false prophets, religious deception, wars, famines, persecution, falling away, increasing lawlessness, spiritual coldness, and the preaching of the Gospel. Yet Jesus warned us not to be troubled or sensational about these things. The signs should make us watchful.
But beyond asking, “What is happening in the world?”, there is a deeper question we must ask:
“What is happening in me?”
Am I ready for the coming of Christ?
Is my fire still burning?
Is my heart still devoted to Jesus?
Am I living for the Kingdom?
Have I become comfortable with sin?
Have I become distracted from eternity?
One of the great dangers of the last days is spiritual coldness. A person can still attend church, sing worship songs, preach, serve, and carry a Bible while gradually losing their hunger for God. There can be church attendance without surrender, Christian language without Christian character, and ministry activity without intimacy with God.
The signs of the end are not given merely to inform us. They are given to awaken us.
