1. To complement each other Genesis 2:18. Marriage is a place where you complement each other; fill up for each others weaknesses
2. Character building: your partner is meant to help you get better in character as they are the ones who truly know you and can point out the areas of your character that you need to work on. This is a very good thing as a character fault can lead one into serious triuif not worked on.
3. Companionship: ECC 4:9-11-12. There's a friendship that is present in marriage that nourishes the soul. That's why you should marry your friend. Marry someone who is willing to be your companion, journey life with you through life and stay with you through life. Don't marry planning to severe the adjoining cord someday. Look out for someone you can stick it out with come rain come sun shine
4. For rearing godly children: Malachi 2:15-16. This is for godly seeds to be produced. That's why you must marry someone you can bear godly seeds with. You need to marry someone that has the fear of God in him or her. Marriage is actually one of the greatest avenues for evangelism. Your kids are your first disciples.
5. Collaboration: Collaboration is meant to accelerate results. And for collaboration to take place, there has to be continuous agreement. That's why you must not seek to be the winner of every argument. You must learn to find a common ground for you to achieve the purpose God made for you two
6. For a covenant with God: Marriage is a covenant and God values covenant. A contract may end but a covenant is meant to stand.
7. For kingdom advancement: That's why you must not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever as both of you need to contribute your quota to Kingdom advancement as a couple through achieving your God ordained purpose

Over the past two weeks, we have been discussing on discoverying our individual purposes before marriage. In the same vain, it is also very important we strive to walk the marriage journey with a partner who has discovered and is walking in his/her purpose as well.
So how then do we know who is walking in purpose?

There are things to look out for to determine if someone is walking in purpose;
We have outlined some of them below 👇👇

_They are constantly connected to God; take their relationship with God seriously and fellowship with His people knowing that God is the giver of purpose and that's where they draw strength and wisdom to fulfil it.

_They are very conscious and intentional about the use of their time. They do not visit away, surf away nor while away their time on things and places that do not contribute to the fulfillment of their purpose.

_They are international about their friendships and associations as they know every association can affect their purpose either positively or negatively.

_They read and invest in themselves to grow, do better and be better at what they are called for.

_They are focused and never confused in life; they live life with great clarity. They are not doing one thing today and another thing the next day. They are stable!

_They identity distractors of their purpose and avoid them. In other words, they have learned who they are and what they stand for and have come to know what would be a distraction to their purpose and avoid them.

_They are not burned out easily nor get easily frustrated at life. The enthusiasm that comes with working in purpose keeps them going.

_They have peace of mind knowing that they are living the life they were created to live

How to discover one's purpose

Purpose is simply the use of something; what something is used for or meant for. In this context it means the assignment or problems you have been made to handle, what we were created to solve in life. Living in purpose simply is being useful in life.
Purpose is divided into two major categories:

1. Spiritual/Ministerial purpose and
2. Social purpose

This knowledge of the above will be foundational and absolutely useful to our understanding of our purposebin life.
Let's startstep by step to talk about the different kinds of purpose

1. Spiritual/Ministrial Purpose which is further split into
a, General Ministerial purpose and
b, Specific Ministerial purpose

a, General Ministerial Purpose simply is the great commission, where we are commanded to populate God's kingdom with souls and encourage everything/work that tends towards soul winning. This purpose is the first clear purpose of every born again Christian on earth.

b, Specific Ministerial Purpose is the particular responsibility God wants you to take up in His Kingdom. This is usually discovered along the line while walking in one's General Ministerial purpose. This is that specific assignment that God has committed into your hands to fulfil in His Church. This could be impressed in your heart by The Holy Spirit or could be shown you by a Spiritual aunthority you are submitted to.

2. Social Purpose however is where passion comes in. It shows in your inability to entertain certain things or let some things continue the way they are; and you are overwhelmed with a desire to do something about it, that is usually your social purpose. It could be seeing that hungry children are fed, that girls get education, it could be to see that families in your area have where to buy food stuff e.t.c. sometimes one's social purpose could also be a source of income to sustain him and other times it's not. Your job( what you earn a living from) usually is not your social purpose but your social purpose may be your job.

There is no two ways about it... It takes two to make a relationship work.. Amos 3:3 says it all..

Regardless of the fact that you will marry or married God's perfect choice for you, you will still need to work to sustain your relationship.

The advantage we have is the presence of the Holy Spirit in us, with us and for us. He is the best teacher.
