MATTINS SERVICE | TRINITY XVIII 🙏🏽

The second service, Mattins, brought the congregation into a sobering and timely reflection from Joshua 23, with our Vicar, Ven Dr Umorami S. Azery, delivering the sermon.

As Joshua approached the end of his life, he gathered Israel and reminded them of the journey they had come through and, more importantly, of the God who had fought their battles and remained faithful to His promises.

The central message was a call to HOLD FAST TO THE LORD.

Joshua’s words remind us that experiencing God’s faithfulness is not the end of the journey, it is an invitation to remain faithful to Him. We are called to be courageous, to obey His Word, to love Him wholeheartedly and to guard ourselves against anything that could gradually draw us away from Him.

The sermon also challenged us to consider how we will finish our own journey of faith. It is not enough to begin well or to enjoy the blessings of God, we must remain steadfast when the circumstances change and continue walking with Him to the end.

Joshua 23 therefore leaves us with a clear charge, remember what God has done, hold firmly to His Word, refuse to compromise your faith and remain faithful to the Lord

The service also featured two special thanksgiving moments

Mr & Mrs Derego came before God to give thanks for a successful wedding and the blessing of their union. 💍❤️

The Final Year Medical Students’ Association of Rivers State University, The Imperial MBBS Class of 2026, also joined us in thanksgiving as they celebrated an important milestone in their academic journey. 🎓🩺

A Mattins service centered on a powerful reminder that God’s faithfulness demands a faithful response from us.

May we hold fast to the Lord, walk in obedience and finish well 🙏🏽

HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE

A FAITH THAT STANDS FIRM 🙏🏽

Today’s Holy Communion Service reminded us of the power of remaining faithful to God, even when circumstances make obedience difficult

Drawing from Daniel 6:10–23, The Rev. Can. Felix Mebom in his sermon pointed us to Daniel’s unwavering commitment to prayer and his confidence in God, even when his faith placed him in danger

Daniel did not allow fear, pressure or the threat of punishment to change his devotion to God, and when he was thrown into the lions’ den, God remained faithful and delivered him

The message is a challenge for us today to stand firm in our faith, remain consistent in prayer and trust God even when we cannot see how the situation will turn out
May our faith continue to stand firm 🙏🏽
