*COME HOLY SPIRIT...*

Today, 50 days after the resurrection, we celebrate the feast of Pentecost. On Pentecost, we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles gathered at the upper room in Jerusalem. This feast of Pentecost is celebrated historically as the birthday of the Church’s missionary activities, and with this celebration, liturgically, the season of Easter comes to an end.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Blessed Trinity; the Paraclete that leads us to the dawn of a new era and assists us to grow to full maturity in our faith. In fact, when the Holy Spirit takes residence in a believer, He changes everything; destroys sin and darkness, and brings forth holiness and light.
Indeed, the Holy Spirit is the source of unity, love, and brotherhood, for he pulls down all barriers of indifferences so that we may understand each other.

There are seven amazing gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to us for our growth and living. These gifts are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
In the same way, there are fruits that should emanate from our lives as true Christian who have received the Holy Spirit. They are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

We welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts and souls to renew the face of our lives and to re-activate His gifts within us that we may bear great and amazing fruit always.

Good morning, and happy Pentecost Sunday.

*DAY NINE*
Thou, on those who evermore
Thee confess, and Thee adore,
In Thy sevenfold gifts, descend:
Give them comfort when they die;
Give them life with Thee on high;
Give them joys which never end. Amen.

*THE FRUITS OF THE HOLY GHOST*
The gifts of the Holy Ghost perfect the supernatural virtues by enabling us to practice them with greater docility to divine inspiration. As we grow in the knowledge and love of God under the direction of the Holy Ghost, our service becomes more sincere and generous, the practice of virtue, more perfect. Such acts of virtue leave the heart filled with joy and consolation and are known as Fruits of the Holy Ghost. These Fruits in turn render the practice of virtue more attractive, and become a powerful incentive for still greater effort in the service of God, to serve whom is to reign.

*PRAYER*
Come, O Divine Spirit, fill my heart with Thy heavenly fruits: charity, joy, peace, patience, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, modesty, self-control and chastity, that I may never weary in the service of God, but by continued faithful submission to Thy inspiration, may merit to be united eternally with Thee in the love of the Father and the Son. Amen.

*Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit*
On my knees / before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses / I offer myself, soul and body / to Thee O Eternal Spirit of God. / I adore the brightness of Thy purity / the unerring keenness of Thy justice / and the might of Thy love. Thou art the Strength / and Light of my soul. / In Thee I live and move and am. / I desire never to grieve Thee by unfaithfulness to grace, and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against Thee. / Mercifully guard my every thought / and grant that I may always watch for Thy light / and listen to Thy voice / and follow Thy gracious inspirations. / I cling to Thee / and give myself to Thee / and ask Thee / by Thy compassion / to watch over me in my weakness. / Holding the pierced feet of Jesus / and looking at His five Wounds / and trusting in His Precious Blood / and adoring His opened side and stricken Heart / I implore Thee / Adorable Spirit / Helper of my infirmity, / so to keep me in Thy grace / that I may never sin against Thee. / Give me grace / O Holy Spirit, / Spirit of the Father and of the Son / to say to Thee always and everywhere / “Speak, Lord / for Thy servant heareth.”

*Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit*
O Lord Jesus Christ / Who, before ascending into heaven / did promise to send the Holy Ghost / to finish Thy work / in the souls of Thine Apostles and Disciples / deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me / that He may perfect in my soul / the work of Thy grace and Thy love. / Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom / that I may despise the perishable things of this world / and aspire only after the things / that are eternal, / the Spirit of Understanding, to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, / the Spirit of Counsel / that I may choose / the surest way of pleasing God / and gaining heaven, / the Spirit of Fortitude / that I may bear my cross with Thee / and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, / the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself / and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, / the Spirit of Piety / that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, / the Spirit of Fear of the Lord / that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him. / Mark me, dear Lord, / with the sign of Thy true disciples / and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. / Amen.

*REMAIN FOCUSED; THERE IS NO ROOM FOR COMPARISON IN LIFE.* ( Jn 21:22)

A fish that attempts to climb trees simply because he saw people clapping for monkeys jumping from tree to tree, have forgotten his life's purpose, and will soon be long dead.

One of the annoying and frustrating things in life is distraction. It can come in many forms: noise, images, animals, persons, etc. When we get distracted, we lose focus of what we are doing and what we should be doing. And in the end, we get nothing done. *Remain focused; there is no room for comparison in life.*

Peter's duty was simply to follow Jesus. His destiny was different from that of John. Yet he got distracted when he saw John and started to lose focus on what Jesus wanted him to do. But the words of Jesus to Peter: "What does it matter to you... You are to follow me" (Jn 21:22) serves as a sharp reminder for us too, that we should keep our focus on Jesus, for that is all that matters. *Remain focused; there is no room for comparison in life.*

This weekend, *remember that there is no comparison in life. Everyone is unique in his or her own way, and that uniqueness is what make us special.* Therefore, let us strive to remain focused on what we are called to do and avoid meddling in the affairs of everyone else, so that we may attain good and favourable results.

Good morning, and happy Saturday.

*ANOTHER CHANCE.* (John 21:17)

Sometimes, life gives you a second chance just in case, maybe the 1st time you weren't ready. So if you are given a second chance, take it and make it worth having and worth keeping. Peter accepted the second chance given to him by Jesus to reverse his three fold denial with a three fold profession of love for him. Three times He asked him: "Simon, son of John, do you love me? Three times Peter answered: "Yes, Lord, you know I love you." And three times Jesus said to him take care of my sheep (A reassurance to Peter that he would still be in charged of the Church), and Peter actually become a changed person; a good shepherd.

All we own: our children, spouses, our possessions in life, and even our vocations are all given to us by God to take care of them as custodians. Are we really doing our best to take care of them? What is our response to the needy brothers and sisters in our homes and communities? Are we able to feed them with the love and goodness we have received from the Lord? Jesus said: Feed my sheep, not count them.

Today, we have been given another chance to right our past wrongs and denials and to prove our love for Jesus by the quality of life that we live. Let us step forward into the new day with good words, good actions, and good attitudes. And let our love for God be seen and felt by all who come in contact with us. May God give us the grace to become faithful witnesses to His Gospel message wherever we find ourselves.

Good morning, and happy Friday.

*DAY EIGHT*
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray!

*THE GIFT OF WISDOM*
Embodying all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues, Wisdom is the most perfect of the gifts. Of Wisdom it is written, “all good things come to me with her, and innumerable riches, through her hands.” It is the gift of Wisdom that strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, and promotes the practice of virtue in the highest degree. Wisdom enlightens the mind to discern and relish things divine, in the appreciation of which earthly joys lose their savor, whilst the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness according to the words of the Saviour: “Take up thy cross and follow me, for my yoke is sweet and my burden light.”

*PRAYER*
Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their exceeding greatness, power, and beauty. Teach me to love them above and beyond all the passing joys and satisfactions of earth. Help me to attain them and possess them forever. Amen.

*"BE COURAGEOUS..."* (Act 23:11)

No one likes to be interrogated about an offense. It is unnerving, and anything that comes out of the mouth can be a disadvantage to be used against the one being interrogated. Having to stand and be questioned by a group of people who are out to pull you down about your actions and your beliefs is certainly unpleasant. What is needed to stand is courage. Courage doesn't mean you are afraid. It means you don't let fear stop you.

That was St. Paul's situation when he had to face the chief priests and the Sanhedrin. But the words that came out of his mouth were not just because of his intelligence and shrewdness. Rather, it was the Holy Spirit who inspired him to say what he said.
The Holy Spirit was his advocate and poured upon Paul the gift of fortitude; courage to bear unshakable witness for Christ. The Holy Spirit will also inspire us to say things that will lead others to believe in Jesus.

We pray for the gift of fortitude to be able to confront and overcome the trials and challenges of our Christian faith. Then, bearing witness to Jesus will be a joy-filled experience. May the Holy Spirit fall afresh on us.

Good morning, and happy Thursday

*NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT*

*DAY SEVEN*
Heal our wounds ~ our strength renew;
On our dryness pour Thy dew!
Wash the stains of guilt away!

*The Gift of Counsel*
The gift of Counsel endows the soul with supernatural prudence, enabling it to judge promptly and rightly what must be done, especially in difficult circumstances. Counsel applies the principles furnished by Knowledge and Understanding to the innumerable concrete cases that confront us in the course of our daily duty as parents, teachers, public servants, and Christian citizens. Counsel is supernatural common sense, a priceless treasure in the quest of salvation. “Above all these things, pray to the Most High, that He may direct thy way in truth.”

*Prayer*
Come, O Spirit of Counsel, help and guide me in all my ways, that I may always do Thy holy will. Incline my heart to that which is good; turn it away from all that is evil, and direct me by the straight path of Thy commandments to that goal of eternal life for which I long. Amen.
