SIR EZERI BIDS FAREWELL TO IYOM MONICA OKARO @75

Late Iyom Monica Uchenna Okaro who was laid on Thursday 1st October 2026 at her late Husband's compound in Abagana, Anambra State, was the Mother In-law to the Chairman of the Garrison Battalion Council, Sir Chukwuemeka Goodluck Ezeri ABH.

The funeral rites began in the morning as her remains left the mortuary and made a brief stop at the Nwude family compound in Eziobodo before proceeding to her husband's compound at Eenuora Orofia Village, Abagana, where she was laid in state.

A Requiem Mass was subsequently celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Parish, Orofia Abagana, with the Mass officiated by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Jonas Okoye, Bishop of Nnewi Diocese. The funeral brought together members of the Okaro family, relatives, friends and well-wishers who came to pay their final respects and celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased.

The Council Secretary on behalf of the Council prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family while commending the life and legacy of the deceased. “Our consolation is that Mama lived an impactful life and was gloriously called home.”

The Council also prayed that God grants Late Iyom Monica Uchenna Okaro eternal rest until the resurrection.

5th Port Harcourt Company Inducts Fresh Members into Fold of Discipline and Faith

St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Elekahia, came alive on Sunday, 27th September 2026, as the 5th Port Harcourt Company of the Boys' Brigade welcomed a new set of young members into its ranks ,a moment that filled the church with pride, prayer, and promise.

The enrollment, held during the church service, saw eager young boys step forward to be formally admitted into an organization long known for shaping character, instilling discipline, and nurturing leadership in Christian youth. Their excitement was contagious, and the congregation watched on with warm approval as another generation began its journey.

As tradition demands, the boys were reminded that belonging to the Boys' Brigade is more than a badge or a uniform ,it is a call to obedience, respect, commitment, and service to both God and community. Officers and church leaders urged them to carry these values beyond the church walls, into their homes, schools, and everyday lives. Parents and guardians, too, were charged to walk this journey alongside their sons, offering the support and guidance every young man needs to grow into his full potential.

The atmosphere was one of solemn joy ,prayers were said, words of encouragement flowed freely, and the newly enrolled boys stood firm as they pledged their commitment to the ideals of the Brigade. It was, in every sense, a passing of the torch.

By the close of the ceremony, the church was united in celebration, hopeful that these young boys would blossom into disciplined, responsible, and God-fearing men ,true ambassadors of the values the Boys' Brigade holds dear.
