John 6:21 says:
“Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.” (KJV)
Recall that the disciples were faced with a storm sailing to Capernaum before Jesus showed up in verse 18...
Looking deeper, you would deduce that there was a more critical situation the disciples were faced with at this moment that was more sensitive and would determine the outcome of their experience and situation...and that was the decision to receive Jesus into their ship or not to.
Wait awhile!
How are rational or logical decisions made?
They are made using either historical data or trend and pattern, past experiences or knowledge of someone or something etc.
They disciples were able to make the right decision of letting Jesus in in the midst of the storm because they could recognise his voice..."it is I". I am who I am even in the midst of the storm, I am who I am even when the journey slows down and lives are in danger. They knew His voice.
Remember that the disciples were not afraid because of the storm, the scripture noted that they only became afraid when they saw Jesus afar off walking on the waters, and coming towards them in the midst of the storm.... It means the storm could not let them see clearly, and they lacked the ability to recognise Him by sight in the storm, but thank God they knew his voice..."it is I".
Here is the highlight:
It takes intimacy and perpetual relationship to recognise one by voice...think about this!
Also, do you realise that our ability to promptly see clearly and recognise someone when we are faced with unforeseen storms is limited, but our heart and our ears are most needed at this time to accurately decipher His voice if intimacy existed aforehand.
Don't wait until the storm arises to learn His voice, now is the best moment to know His voice!
“They willingly received him” – At first, the disciples were afraid, but once they recognized Jesus the moment He spoke, they accepted Him into the boat.
“Immediately the ship was at the land” – This shows a miraculous intervention: not only did Jesus calm their fear, but their journey was instantly completed.
