​On Thursday, 1st of October 2026, the Association of Brotherhood Academic and Students (ABAS), Rivers State University (RSU) Chapter, gathered for its scheduled fellowship meeting. The session opened with an enlightening Bible Class centered on the central observance of the day—the Glorification Day of Holy Mother Elizabeth Olumba Obu. Revering her as the custodian of material blessings, ABASites reflected deeply on her enduring legacy, spiritual virtues, and life of sacrificial service within and beyond the Kingdom.

​The first phase of the Bible Class was facilitated by the Chapter Vice President for Evangelism, DV Atagwung Gogo Mgbowa. It proved to be a deeply engaging session, as various members were invited to contribute their thoughts and spiritual insights. Key contributions highlighted Holy Mother’s role as the initiator of the sacred love feast tradition, as well as her pioneering efforts in establishing essential institutions within the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS). These include the Sewing Institute, the Medical Center, the Palm Oil Factory, and the BCS Redeemed Children’s Home—recognized as the largest orphanage in Africa as of 2026.

ABASites also paid tribute to her extraordinary hospitality, recalling how she housed and nurtured around 500 children at a time, providing equal love and care without discrimination.

​Building on this foundational discussion, the second segment of the Bible Class focused on the theme, "The Impact of the Doctrines of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu on Religion." ABASites explored the transformative nature of these divine teachings and their practical application in navigating contemporary religious and moral challenges.

​Following the Bible Class, ABASites of RSU joined the broader congregation at 50 Obidianso Bethel to participate in the Glorification Day celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and joy as prayers and praise were offered, sealing the day’s blessings.

Towards the conclusion of the program, the Chapter President, CPS Bethel Dokubo, expressed gratitude to the Holy Father for a successful gathering and delivered key administrative announcements regarding upcoming chapter and state-level activities. The fellowship concluded on a warm and harmonious note with the sharing of a sumptuous love feast.

*ABAS RSU HOLDS A GRASSROOT EVANGELISM ON THE THEME "FROM BELIEF TO PRACTICE" AS PART OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT MARKS THE WEEK LONG CELEBRATION — ABAS INT'L 47TH ANNIVERSARY*

In furtherance of the mandate for this year’s *ABAS International 47th Anniversary* themed _“From Belief to Practice”_, a team of about six ABASites convened for a strategic evangelical engagement. The exercise was deliberately preceded by spiritual preparation to ensure that our outing was not mere activity, but Spirit-led practice.

The day's activity commenced with an in-depth Bible Class anchored by the Vice President Evangelism, Bro. Atagwung Gogo Mgbowa. The session exceeded one hour and was marked by depth, clarity, and conviction. Bro. Gogo expounded extensively on the anniversary theme, situating it within Scripture and contemporary Christian responsibility.

By the close of the class, all ABASites present were thoroughly enlightened and convinced that the theme _“From Belief to Practice”_ has granted us a more lucid dimension of understanding — that authentic faith must be evidenced by tangible obedience and service.

Immediately following the Bible Class, the team proceeded for an evangelical outing. We strategically divided into smaller groups to maximize coverage and ensure personal engagement with recipients. During these encounters, the message was clear and consistent: the Christian walk is built on the inseparable union of faith and works.

Recipients were enlightened on the essence of moving beyond mental assent to active practice, as this is the bedrock and foundation upon which true belief stands and is validated.

This scriptural posture was reinforced with the following passages from the Holy Scriptures :

James 1:22-23 – _“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.”_

*Matthew 7:24* – _“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.”_

In summary, the exercise was both edifying for the team and impactful for those we reached. The synergy between teaching and practice produced clarity, zeal, and a renewed resolve among the ABASites to embody _“From Belief to Practice”_ as we journey toward the world headquarters in Calabar to seal the deal.

UNICAL DEAN LAUDS ABAS’ COMMITMENT TO MORAL AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

…Pledges Participation at the Mega Campus Conference

As activities marking the 47th Anniversary of the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS) International continue to gather momentum, the Dean of Student Affairs, University of Calabar, Prof. Eyo Mensah, has commended the Association for its unwavering commitment to promoting true scholarship, moral excellence, and character development through its forthcoming Mega Campus Conference.

The commendation came when a delegation of ABAS International, led by the International President, PCS (Hon.) Ekuma Ngwu, paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of Student Affairs as part of the Association’s lineup of activities for the anniversary celebration.

During the visit, the International President presented a comprehensive overview of the Mega Campus Conference, scheduled to hold on Friday, 3rd July, 2026. He highlighted the objectives and significance of the conference to the academic community, with the theme: “From Belief to Practice: Advancing Moral and Academic Excellence.”

PCS (Hon.) Ekuma Ngwu described the conference as a strategic platform designed to rekindle ethical values, inspire academic distinction, and nurture a new generation of morally upright scholars committed to national development and societal transformation.

In his response, Prof. Eyo Mensah expressed profound appreciation for the initiative, describing the choice of the University of Calabar as the host institution as thoughtful and highly commendable. He affirmed his support for the conference, noting that ABAS has consistently distinguished itself through impactful scholarly and moral interventions within the academic community.

The Dean further encouraged the leadership of the Association to sustain its commitment to promoting genuine scholarship, integrity, and character development, stressing that such initiatives are essential in raising responsible leaders and building a better society.

Prof. Mensah also declared his intention to personally participate in the Mega Campus Conference, expressing confidence that the programme would leave a lasting impact on students and other participants.

Members of the delegation included Archbishop Nana Mong, Vice President (Scholarship); DV Lucky Udoekong, ABAS International Secretary; and DV Uduot Udoadiaha, Vice President (Evangelism), ABAS Akwa Ibom State.

It was a moment of nostalgia and ecstatic joy as the 47th Anniversary Celebration of the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS) International officially commenced today, with the Holy Father, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, graciously flagging off the week-long celebration.

Our Holy Father declared abundant blessings upon all ABASites across the globe and called on every ABASite to key into this year’s anniversary celebration, assuring them that enormous blessings await all His children.
