An Open Letter to Church Leaders, Pastors, and General Overseers
Dear Leaders,
Let us take a cue from Jesus Christ, who did not hoard wealth for Himself but gave everything for the benefit of others (2 Corinthians 8:9). Every child of God deserves abundance and prosperity, not just spiritually but also physically (3 John 1:2). As leaders, it is time to rethink how we manage church resources. Instead of storing wealth for personal gain or future generations, let us prioritize sharing with our members and supporting those in need (Acts 2:44-45, 4:32-35).
The early church showed us how it's done - they sold their possessions and shared among each other, ensuring no one lacked anything (Acts 4:34). Let us follow their example and put the needs of God's people first (Matthew 25:31-46).
We must avoid boasting about our wealth, flaunting our fleets of cars, private jets, mansions, and real estate all over the world, while believers serving God under us struggle like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36). It is not the gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth to accumulate wealth while others suffer (James 2:1-9, 1 Timothy 6:6-10). Rather, it is a manifestation of greed and selfishness (Proverbs 28:25, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
Let us gather and share among our members, ensuring everyone has enough to eat and is satisfied (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). This is what the apostles and our good shepherd, Jesus Christ, exemplified (Acts 2:42-47).
Sincerely,
Amb Promise Sampson.
