Dear Good People of Atiba Local Government,
I wish to officially notify the good people of Atiba Local Government about the security directive issued by the Oyo State Government concerning the ongoing operations around the Old Oyo National Park and neighboring communities.
Following the approval of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, a 48-hour curfew has been declared across affected Local Government Areas as part of intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities threatening the safety of our people.
The curfew begins on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will be observed daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM within the 48-hour period. During these hours, movement of persons, vehicles, commercial motorcycles, and other means of transportation will be strictly restricted, except for essential and authorized services.
This action is necessary to allow security operatives carry out coordinated operations to dislodge criminal elements who have turned parts of the forest around the Old Oyo National Park into hideouts. It will also strengthen efforts to rescue kidnapped victims and restore peace across the affected communities.
I sincerely urge all residents of Atiba Local Government to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding while fully cooperating with the security agencies during this period. Your understanding, support, and compliance are crucial to the success of this operation and the safety of lives and property.
