Believers are no longer slaves to sin.
God gives power to live righteously.

Consider yourself dead to sin.
Live for righteousness.

*SERMON TOPIC: OVERCOMING LIMITATIONS*
Text: Philippians 3:13–14
Theme Line: *Press forward with kingdom focus*

*OPENING SCRIPTURE*
> “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)

*INTRODUCTION*
Every believer faces limitations—things that seem to slow us down, hold us back, or tell us “you cannot go further.”
Limitations may come from our past, our background, our mistakes, our fear, or even our current circumstances.

However, Paul teaches us in this scripture that limitations are not excuses. They are challenges meant to be overcome by focus, faith, and forward movement in Christ.

In this new season, God is calling us to press forward and grow stronger in Christ, not weaker in excuses.

*1. UNDERSTANDING LIMITATIONS*
A limitation is anything that restricts progress or discourages purpose.
_Types of Limitations:_
1. Past failures – mistakes, sins, regrets
2. Fear and doubt – fear of failure, fear of people
3. Background or environment – family, finances, education
4. Negative voices – what people have said about you
5. Self-limitation – “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t”

Paul had many reasons to stop:
He persecuted the church
He suffered rejection and imprisonment Yet he refused to allow his past to define his future.
“ _Forgetting those things which are behind…” (v.13)_

*2. LETTING GO OF THE PAST*
You cannot move forward while holding on backward.
Paul made a deliberate decision:
Not to dwell on past failures
Not to boast in past successes
Not to allow yesterday to control today
Some people are limited not by Satan, but by memories.

> Isaiah 43:18–19
“ _Remember ye not the former things… behold, I will do a new thing_ .”
To overcome limitations:
Release guil
Let go of regret
Stop replaying old chapters
God cannot

“ _Remember ye not the former things… behold, I will do a new thing_ .”
To overcome limitations:
Release guil
Let go of regret
Stop replaying old chapters
God cannot build your future if you keep living in your past.

*3. REACHING FORWARD IN FAITH*
Paul said
“… _reaching forth unto those things which are before.”_

Overcoming limitations requires spiritual stretching:
Stretch your faith
Stretch your obedience
Stretch your vision

_Faith is not passive—it reaches._
Hebrews 12:1
“ Let us lay aside every weight… and run with patience the race set before us.”
*You don’t overcome limitations by comfort—you overcome them by commitment.*

*4. PRESSING FORWARD WITH KINGDOM FOCUS*
*Paul said:*
“I press toward the mark…”_
*To press means:*
To pursue with effort
To continue despite resistance
To move even when it’s uncomfortable

_Kingdom focus means:_*
Seeking God’s will over personal comfort
Choosing purpose over pleasure
Putting eternal rewards above temporary setbacks

> Matthew 6:33
“ _Seek first the kingdom of God…”_

*When your focus is the Kingdom:*
Limitations lose their power
Challenges become stepping stones
Trials build strength, not defeat

*5. THE PRIZE AWAITS THOSE WHO PRESS*
> “… _for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”_

*God has a calling on your life. Your limitation is not greater than:*
God’s grace
God’s power
God’s purpose

*Every step forward in obedience brings you closer to:*
✅Spiritual maturity
✅Fulfilled destiny
✅Eternal reward
> 2 Corinthians 4:17
“For our light affliction… worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

*CONCLUSION*
✳️Overcoming limitations is not about perfection—it is about direction.
✅Forget what is behind
✅Reach for what is ahead
✅Press forward with kingdom focus.

This season is a new beginning. You are not stuck. You are not finished. You are not limited in Christ

Philippians 4:13
_“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”_
