*SERMON TITLE: UNITY AS A CHRISTIAN*
*Text: Psalm 133:1*
*Date:14-12-2025*
> “ **Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together* *in unity!”*
*
*INTRODUCTION*
Unity is the heartbeat of Christianity. The strength of the Church is not in numbers, wealth, or programs, but in oneness of spirit and purpose. Where unity is absent, division weakens the body of Christ. Jesus Himself prayed for unity because He knew it would be the evidence that we truly belong to Him.
1. UNITY IS GOD’S DESIRE FOR HIS PEOPLE
Bible Verse: John 17:21
> “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee…”
Unity is not man’s idea—it is God’s desire. Jesus prayed for unity before going to the cross. This shows how important unity is to the heart of God.
👉 A divided church cannot reflect a united Christ.
2. UNITY IS A MARK OF TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE
Bible Verse: John 13:34–35
> “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Unity flows from love. When believers love one another genuinely, unity becomes natural. Hatred, jealousy, gossip, and unforgiveness are enemies of unity.
👉 You cannot claim to love God and hate your brother.
3. UNITY DOES NOT MEAN UNIFORMITY
Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 12:12
> “For as the body is one, and hath many members…”
Unity does not mean we are all the same. We have different gifts, callings, and functions, yet we serve one Lord. Diversity becomes strength when united in Christ.
👉 Different roles, same purpose.
4. UNITY ATTRACTS GOD’S BLESSINGS
Bible Verse: Psalm 133:2–3
> “For there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”
God commands blessings where unity exists. Disunity blocks prayers, progress, and spiritual growth, but unity releases favor, peace, and power.
👉 If you want God’s blessing, protect unity.
5. UNITY REQUIRES HUMILITY AND FORGIVENESS
Bible Verse: Ephesians 4:2–3
> “With all lowliness and meekness… forbearing one another in love.
”Unity does not happen by accident. It requires humility, patience, forgiveness, and self-control. Pride is the root of division; humility is the foundation of unity.
👉 Unity grows where forgiveness lives.
6. UNITY MAKES THE CHURCH STRONG AND EFFECTIVE
Bible Verse: Ecclesiastes 4:12
> “And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
A united church stands strong against the enemy. Satan fears unity because united believers are powerful in prayer, evangelism, and spiritual warfare.
👉 The enemy divides to conquer; God unites to reign.
CONCLUSION
Unity is not optional for Christians—it is a command. When we walk in unity, we reflect Christ, attract God’s blessing, and advance His kingdom. Let us choose love over offense, forgiveness over bitterness, and unity over division.
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord Jesus, we ask for the spirit of unity in our hearts, homes, and church. Remove every root of bitterness, pride, and division among us. Teach us to love one another as You have loved us. Let Your blessing rest upon us as we walk together in unity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
