THE MASTER'S DAILY WORD
MONDAY 7TH OCTOBER
BRINGING OTHERS TO JESUS
MATTHEW 9: 9 - 13

9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.
11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Bringing others to Jesus is what gladdens the heart of Jesus more than every other thing we do for Him. In our Bible reading for today Jesus set an example for us to follow. Matthew (or Levi) was a typical tax collector whom the Jews knew as a typical sinner. This is because a tax collector was known for enriching himself at the detriment of the tax payers. It was a surprise to the Jews that Jesus could mingle with such a man. Jesus dined with such people that were tagged publicans and sinners to the dismay of the Pharisees. “But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, they that be whole need not a physician but they that are sick.” (Matt 9: 12, KJV).
A brother invited a young man to Sunday worship one of these days. The young man’s hair was unkempt (dreadlocks). Entering the church hall, a Sister usher asked him why he came to church with that hairdo. The young man was angry and almost went back home.
Jesus said that such “sick” ones are the people He has come to save. The word of God spoken that day made the young man sober and he was convinced to come to Sunday service. On his own he changed his hairdo and got his own bible.
Brethren, holier than thou attitude cannot bring souls to Jesus. Allow them to come as they are. When the word of God brings conviction to a man, genuine repentance follows. Then old things will pass away, behold all things become new.

PRAYER: Father give me compassion for perishing souls, help me to bring them to You with a friendly heart. Amen.

THE MASTER'S DAILY WORD
WEDNESDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
TRUST GOD FOR YOUR HEART'S DESIRE
PSALM 37: 3 - 7, 37 - 40

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

This is the Bible Reading for today's Master's Daily Word

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your hearts. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:3-5, NKJV).
I had an experience many years ago that made me to fear God and learn to trust Him always.
My wife and I visited a brother we have been following up to stand firm in the faith. This brother had fifteen four-weeks old sickly birds he never believed they could survive. We took them away, prayed over them and treated them. When this brother saw them after two months; he didn’t believe that they were his birds.
I had already claimed them as my birds since the brother never bothered about them. Now he would collect his birds; possibly give me some. I desired some of the beautiful coloured ones for reproduction. It was then the Lord said to me, “Beware of covetousness, that what is not your own is not your own, no matter your logical reasons, it is not your own!” I asked God for forgiveness. Then I told the Lord my desire for these birds. Surprisingly the brother came and said to me, “Brother, I know you would like to rear some of the birds after sharing; please feel free to choose the colours you would like; mine is to consume.”
Beloved, God answers prayers, and is ever ready to grant you your heart’s desires.

PRAYER: Father, help me to believe that You are interested in our desires.
